To a stirred solution of 1-aminoisoquinoline (2.5 g, 17.3 MMOL) in methylene chloride (50 mi) was added 3-bromopropyl isocyanate (3.13 g, 19 MMOL) dissolved in methylene chloride (15 ML). The mixture was allowed to stir at room temperature overnight. The mixture was partitioned between methylene chloride (20 ml) and aqueous saturated sodium bicarbonate (20 ml). The organic layer was separated and washed with brine, dried over sodium sulfate and concentrated to give 4.97 G of a brown solid (92%). This was used directly in the next step., 1532-84-9
