Ray, Parijat published the artcileDevelopment of bio-acrylic polymers from Cyrene: transforming a green solvent to a green polymer, Recommanded Product: 1,3-Dimethoxybenzene, the main research area is cyrene bioacrylic polymer polymerization.

In this work, Cyrene, a bio-based green solvent, has been transformed into its methacrylic derivative (m-Cyrene) for the first time. Polymerization of the newly-synthesized monomer was studied using different polymerization techniques such as bulk, solution and emulsion polymerization Compared to solution polymerization, emulsion polymerization was found to produce higher yields and mol. weights Cyrene, along with other green solvents, was used as a polymerization solvent and was found to be the most effective (as a solvent) with the highest yield and mol. weight The new Cyrene monomer was found to undergo rapid polymerization compared to isobornyl methacrylate (IBMA), another bio-derived monomer with a close structural similarity, and the highest polymerization rate was obtained in Cyrene as the polymerization solvent media. A reactivity ratio calculation also showed m-Cyrene to be more reactive than IBMA. The homopolymer derived from emulsion polymerization showed high glass transition temperature (192°C) and thermal stability (up to ca. 266°C). Cytotoxicity testing confirmed the non-toxic nature of the bio-derived monomer, making it a green bio-derived methacrylic monomer for synthesizing polymers, where high thermal stability and mech. properties are required.

Journal of the American Chemical Society published new progress about Alkenylation. 151-10-0 belongs to class isoquinoline, name is 1,3-Dimethoxybenzene, and the molecular formula is C8H10O2, COA of Formula: C8H10O2.

Jia, Xiaofan published the artcileSynthesis of Stilbenes by Rhodium-Catalyzed Aerobic Alkenylation of Arenes via C-H Activation, COA of Formula: C8H10O2, the main research area is stilbene preparation rhodium catalyzed alkenylation vinyl arene.

Arene alkenylation is commonly achieved by late transition metal-mediated C(sp2)-C(sp2) cross-coupling, but this strategy typically requires prefunctionalized substrates (e.g., with halides or pseudohalides) and/or the presence of a directing group on the arene. Transition metal-mediated arene C-H activation and alkenylation offers an alternative method to functionalize arene substrates. Herein, we report a rhodium-catalyzed oxidative arene alkenylation from arenes and styrenes to prepare stilbene and stilbene derivatives The reaction is successful with several functional groups on both the arene and the olefin including fluoride, chloride, trifluoromethyl, ester, nitro, acetate, cyanide, and ether groups. Reactions of monosubstituted arenes are selective for alkenylation at the meta and para positions, generally with approx. 2:1 selectivity, resp. Resveratrol and (E)-1,2,3-trimethoxy-5-(4-methoxystyryl)benzene (DMU-212) are synthesized by this single-step approach in high yield. Comparison with palladium catalysis showed that rhodium catalysis is more selective for meta-functionalization for monosubstituted arenes and that the Rh catalysis has better tolerance of halogen groups.

Moving away from dichloromethane, Name: 1,3-Dimethoxybenzene, the main research area is peptide solid phase synthesis chlorotrityl chloride resin green chem; resin cleavage green solvent TFA anisole dimethoxybenzene.

In recent years, the work of various research groups has allowed the substitution of the hazardous solvents most widely used in solid-phase peptide synthesis, namely DMF, NMP, DCM, DEE, among others, by several much less hazardous solvents. Indeed, greener alternatives have been found for almost all steps of the process, with the exception of the cleavage of protected peptides from 2-chlorotrityl chloride resin. Here, after careful screening of several of the so-called green solvents, we propose 2% TFA in either anisole or 1,3-dimethoxybenzene as optimal for the cleavage step. The higher b.p. of these solvents compared with the DCM allows the preparation of protected peptides with less risk of premature removal of the most labile protecting groups, such as the Trt of His. Our findings once again evidence the value/versatility of green solvents in strict chem. terms.

Angewandte Chemie, International Edition published new progress about Electrophiles. 151-10-0 belongs to class isoquinoline, name is 1,3-Dimethoxybenzene, and the molecular formula is C8H10O2, Recommanded Product: 1,3-Dimethoxybenzene.

Harenberg, Johannes H. published the artcile(2-Ethylhexyl)sodium: A Hexane-Soluble Reagent for Br/Na-Exchanges and Directed Metalations in Continuous Flow, Recommanded Product: 1,3-Dimethoxybenzene, the main research area is hexane soluble ethylhexylsodium preparation sodiation organic synthesis continuous flow; Br/Na-exchange; directed sodiation; flow chemistry; packed-bed reactor; sodium.

We report the on-demand generation of hexane-soluble (2-ethylhexyl)sodium (1) from 3-(chloromethyl)heptane (2) using a sodium-packed-bed reactor under continuous flow conditions. Thus, the resulting solution of 1 is free of elemental sodium and therefore suited for a range of synthetic applications. This new procedure avoids the storage of an alkylsodium and limits the handling of metallic sodium to a min. (2-Ethylhexyl)sodium (1) proved to be a very useful reagent and undergoes in-line Br/Na-exchanges as well as directed sodiations. The resulting arylsodium intermediates are subsequently trapped in batch with various electrophiles such as ketones, aldehydes, Weinreb-amides, imines, allyl bromides, disulfides and alkyl iodides. A reaction scale-up of the Br/Na-exchange using an in-line electrophile quench was also reported.

Verevkin, Sergey P. published the artcileWebbing a network of reliable thermochemistry around lignin building blocks: tri-methoxy-benzenes, Application of 1,3-Dimethoxybenzene, the main research area is lignin building block thermochem.

Methoxy-substituted benzenes are the simplest fragments from the lignin separation feedstock. Extensive exptl. thermochem. studies of these compounds were carried out, including vapor pressure measurements, combustion and differential scanning calorimetry. These data were evaluated using empirical, semi-empirical and quantum chem. methods. The consistent sets of evaluated thermodn. data were used to design the method for predicting enthalpies of vaporization and enthalpies of formation of di- and tri-substituted benzenes. It has been found that the agglomeration of substituents on the benzene ring has dramatic consequences for the energetics of the mol. (in terms of the enthalpy of formation), as well as for the energetics of intermol. interactions (in terms of the enthalpy of vaporization). These observations are essential to reliably assess the energetics of the mols. that appear in reaction products of lignin transformations in value-adding chems. and materials.

Flavin-based catalysts are photoactive in the visible range which makes them useful in biol. and chem. Herein, we present electrospray-ionization mass-spectrometry detection of short-lived intermediates in photooxidation of toluene catalyzed by flavinium ions (Fl+). Previous studies have shown that photoexcited flavins react with aromatics by proton-coupled electron transfer (PCET) on the microsecond time scale. For Fl+, PCET leads to FlH.+ with the H-atom bound to the N5 position. We show that the reaction continues by coupling between FlH.+ and hydroperoxy or benzylperoxy radicals at the C4a position of FlH.+. These results demonstrate that the N5-blocking effect reported for alkylated flavins is also active after PCET in these photocatalytic reactions. Structures of all intermediates were fully characterized by isotopic labeling and by photodissociation spectroscopy. These tools provide a new way to study reaction intermediates in the sub-second time range.

ChemCatChem published new progress about Hydrogenolysis. 151-10-0 belongs to class isoquinoline, name is 1,3-Dimethoxybenzene, and the molecular formula is C8H10O2, Recommanded Product: 1,3-Dimethoxybenzene.

Wang, Qiuyue published the artcileLow-Temperature Catalytic Hydrogenolysis of Guaiacol to Phenol over Al-Doped SBA-15 Supported Ni Catalysts, Recommanded Product: 1,3-Dimethoxybenzene, the main research area is temperature catalytic hydrogenolysis guaiacol phenol aluminum supported nickel catalyst.

Selective hydrogenolysis of aromatic carbon-oxygen (Caryl-O) bonds is a key strategy for the generation of aromatic chems. from lignin. However, this process is usually operated at high temperatures and pressures over hydrogenation catalysts, resulting in a low selectivity for aromatics and an extra consumption of hydrogen. Here, a series of Al-doped SBA-15 mesoporous materials with different Si/Al molar ratios (Al-SBA-15) were prepared via a post-synthesis method using NaAlO2 as the Al source, and then Al-SBA-15 supported Ni catalysts (Ni/Al-SBA-15) were prepared by a deposition-precipitation method using urea as the hydrolysis reagent. The prepared supports and catalysts were extensively characterized using various techniques such as XRD, N2 adsorption/desorption, TEM, 27Al NMR, NH3-TPD, XPS, H2-TPR, and pyridine-FT-IR, and the catalysts were evaluated in the hydrogenolysis of the Caryl-O bond in guaiacol and lignin derived compounds under mild conditions. The effects of the Si/Al ratio in catalyst and reaction parameters on guaiacol conversion and product distribution were investigated in detail, associated with solvent effect. The incorporation of Al into the framework of SBA-15 can improve the Lewis acidity and the dispersion of the supported Ni particles and yet modulate the metal-support interactions, which are propitious to the hydrogenolysis of the Caryl-O bond in guaiacol. The catalyst Ni/Al-SBA-15 with a Si/Al molar ratio of 10 shows the best performance with a guaiacol conversion of 87.4% and a phenol selectivity of 76.9% under the mild conditions conducted, because of its proper acidity, suitable metal-support interactions, and high dispersion of the active species. The present study would stimulate research and development in multi-functional catalysts for the generation of valuable chems. from biomass.

Pratali Maffei, Luna published the artcileElectronic structure-based rate rules for H ipso addition-elimination reactions on mono-aromatic hydrocarbons with single and double OH/CH3/OCH3/CHO/C2H5 substituents: a systematic theoretical investigation, COA of Formula: C8H10O2, the main research area is phenol toluene substitution reaction kinetics activation energy.

The recent interest in bio-oils combustion and the key role of mono-aromatic hydrocarbons (MAHs) in existing kinetic frameworks, both in terms of poly-aromatic hydrocarbons growth and surrogate fuels formulation, motivates the current systematic theor. investigation of one of the relevant reaction classes in MAHs pyrolysis and oxidation: ipso substitution by hydrogen. State-of-the-art theor. methods and protocols implemented in automatized computational routines allowed to investigate 14 different potential energy surfaces involving MAHs with hydroxy and Me single (phenol and toluene) and double (o-,m-,p-C6H4(OH)2, o-,m-,p-CH3C6H4OH, and o-,m-,p-C6H4(CH3)2) substituents, providing rate constants for direct implementation in existing kinetic models. The accuracy of the adopted theor. method was validated by comparison of the computed rate constants with the available literature data. Systematic trends in energy barriers, pre-exponential factors, and temperature dependence of the Arrhenius parameters were found, encouraging the formulation of rate rules for H ipso substitutions on MAHs. The rules here proposed allow to extrapolate from a reference system the necessary activation energy and pre-exponential factor corrections for a large number of reactions from a limited set of electronic structure calculations We were able to estimate rate constants for other 63 H ipso addn-elimination reactions on di-substituted MAHs, reporting in total 75 rate constants for H ipso substitution reactions o-,m-,p-R’C6H4R + H â†?C6H5R + R’, with R,R’ = OH/CH3/OCH3/CHO/C2H5, in the 300-2000 K range. Addnl. calculations performed for validation showed that the proposed rate rules are in excellent agreement with the rate constants calculated using the full computational protocol in the 500-2000 K range, generally with errors below 20%, increasing up to 40% in a few cases. The main results of this work are the successful application of automatized electronic structure calculations for the derivation of accurate rate constants for H ipso substitution reactions on MAHs, and an efficient and innovative approach for rate rules formulation for this reaction class.
