In photoredox catalysis, an excited chromophore typically activates a single reactant either by oxidizing or reducing it. Ghosh et al. used a semiconductor catalyst to activate two reactants at once by quenching both an excited electron and the residual pos. hole (see the Perspective by Swift). As such, two different reactive carbon or halide fragments could be appended to sep. sites on an aryl ring. The catalyst also tolerated strong nucleophiles such as cyanide and could be recovered easily and reused.

Capilato, Joseph N. published the artcileArene Amination Instead of Fluorination: Substitution Pattern Governs the Reactivity of Dialkoxybenzenes with Selectfluor, Name: 1,3-Dimethoxybenzene, the main research area is dialkoxy benzene amination Selectfluor.

Arene substitution patterns are well-known to affect the regioselectivity of a given transformation but not necessarily the type of reactivity. Herein, we report that the substitution pattern of alkoxyarenes dictates whether a putative one-electron or two-electron reaction predominates in reactions with Selectfluor. A series of amination products is presented, resulting from the single-electron oxidation of electron-rich arenes followed by direct C-H to C-N bond formation. We demonstrate the ability of this transformation to synthesize medicinally and biol. relevant nitrogen heterocycles. Lastly, this unusual “”mechanistic switch”” is probed with computational chem. and competition experiments

Kobayashi, Daishiro’s team published research in Chemistry – A European Journal in 2021-10-07 | CAS: 151-10-0

Chemistry – A European Journal published new progress about Arylation. 151-10-0 belongs to class isoquinoline, name is 1,3-Dimethoxybenzene, and the molecular formula is C8H10O2, Application In Synthesis of 151-10-0.

Kobayashi, Daishiro published the artcilePeptide cyclization mediated by metal-free S-arylation: S-protected cysteine sulfoxide as an umpolung of the cysteine nucleophile, Application In Synthesis of 151-10-0, the main research area is cyclic stapled peptide synthesis; solid phase peptide synthesis oxidative cyclization cystein sulfoxide arylation; thioether linkage formation reaction mechanism sulfoxide tryptathionine; aromatic electrophilic substitution; S-arylation; peptide cyclization; stapling; sulfoxides; tryptathionine.

Covalent linking of side chains provides a method to produce cyclic or stapled peptides that are important in developing peptide-based drugs. A variety of crosslinking formats contribute to fixing the active conformer and prolonging its biol. activity under physiol. conditions. One format uses the cysteine thiol to participate in crosslinking through nucleophilic thiolate anions or thiyl radicals to form thioether and disulfide bonds. Removal of the S-protection from an S-protected Cys derivative generates the thiol, which functions as a nucleophile. S-Oxidation of a protected Cys allows the formation of a sulfoxide that operates as an umpolung electrophile. Herein, the applicability of S-p-methoxybenzyl Cys sulfoxide (Cys(MBzl)(O)) to the formation of a thioether linkage between tryptophan and Cys has been investigated. The reaction of peptides containing Cys(MBzl)(O) and Trp with trifluoromethanesulfonic acid (TFMSA) or methanesulfonic acid (MSA) in TFA in the presence of guanidine hydrochloride (Gn · HCl) proceeded to give cyclic or stapled peptides possessing the Cys-Trp thioether linkage. In this reaction, strong acids such as TFMSA or MSA are necessary to activate the sulfoxide. Addnl., Gn · HCl plays a critical role in producing an electrophilic Cys derivative that combines with the indole by aromatic electrophilic substitution. The findings led us to conclude that the less-electrophilic Cys(MBzl)(O) serves as an acid-activated umpolung of a Cys nucleophile and is useful for S-arylation-mediated peptide cyclization.

A photocatalyst-free and mild visible light photochem. procedure for C(sp3)-H arylation of amides is described. The reaction proceeds via an electron donor-acceptor (EDA) complex between an electron-rich arene substrate and electron-poor persulfate oxidant. C(sp3)-H arylation of the amide occurs selectively with the most electron-rich arene of the substrate. Mechanistic studies corroborate the reaction taking place in a solvent cage holding components in a close proximity.

Metal-free TFA promoted arylation/heteroarylation was achieved under mild conditions via the reaction of chloro-derivatives of nitrogen heterocycles [e.g., =C-C(Cl)=N-] with electron rich arenes/heteroarenes for synthesis of aryl substituted nitrogen heterocycles such as I [R = H; R1 = H; RR1 = CH=CH-CH=CH; R2 = 1H-indol-3-yl, 2-hydroxy-1-naphthyl, 2,4-di-HOC6H3, etc.; R3 = Cl, CN; X = C, N]. It was also observed that apart from participating in the heteroarylation step, TFA was able to facilitate the hydroarylation/o-arylation process in the same pot affording the carbazole/oxepine fused N-heterocycles such as II [R4 = H, OMe, Br; R5 = H, Br; R6 = Ph, 4-MeC6H4; R7 = Me, Et, Bn] and III [R8 = H; R9 = H; R8R9 = CH=CH-CH=CH, CH=C(Me)-C(Me)=CH; R10 = H, Me; R11 = H, Me, Cl, Br]. Clemente-Villalba, Jesus published the artcileComparison on sensory profile, volatile composition and consumer’s acceptance for PDO or non-PDO tigernut (Cyperus esculentus L.) milk, Safety of 1,3-Dimethoxybenzene, the main research area is horchata tigernut milk volatile compound penalty analysis.

Cyperus esculentus tubers are the raw material to prepare tigernut milk (horchata), which can be marketed under Protected Designation of Origin “”C hufa de Valencia””. The aim of this study was to characterize com. tigernut milks and compare PDO and non-PDO products. The following aspects were studied: (i) volatile profile, (ii) descriptive sensory profile, (iii) consumer satisfaction degree. The key volatile compounds were limonene, benzaldehyde, linalool and m-methoxyanisole. Principal component anal. indicated a mix of PDO and non-PDO samples in the groups formed. The highest consumer satisfactions were observed for 2 PDO samples. Penalty anal. showed that 80% of non-PDO samples needed improvements, while this percentage drastically decreased to 40% for PDO samples. The online study proved that a lot of people drink horchata, less people know the PDO Chufa de Valencia and even less people consume the protected product consciously. In conclusion, there was not a clear difference among protected and non-protected tigernut milks respect to volatile compounds but there were differences in the degree of consumer preference. So, it is clear that a lack of knowledge regarding the product and its PDO exists and needs attention.

A simple method is described for the synthesis of substituted diphenylmethane derivatives in excellent yields by friedel-craft alkylation reaction under solvent free condition using molybdenum promoted ZrO2 solid acid catalyst at 80°C. The MoO3/ZrO2 catalyst has been prepared from using impregnation method followed by calcination at 923K for 6 h in air atm. This catalyst was characterized by various techniques such as SEM, XRD, FTIR, UV DRS, and BET surface area. Zirconia has both acidic and basic properties which can be altered by incorporating suitable promoter atom like Mo which inturn increase the surface area thereby enhance the surface acidity. Impregnation of Mo ions shows a strong influence on phase modification of zirconia from thermodynamically more stable monoclinic to metastable tetragonal phase. Incorporation of promoter Mo will stabilize tetragonal phase which is active in catalyzing reactions. In friedel-craft alkylation MoO3/ZrO2 catalyst was found to be stable, efficient and environmentally friendly, easily recovered by filtration, higher yield of product and can be reusable efficiently.
