Synthesis and Photophysical Properties of 3-(Trifluoromethyl)-2H- imidazo[5,1-a]isoquinolinium Chloride Derivatives

A series of novel blue-light-emitting 2H-imidazo[5,1-a]isoquinolinium chloride derivatives were synthesized by the reaction of isoquinoline with trifluoroacetimidoyl chlorides and isocyanides in dry CH2Cl2 in excellent yields. Fluorescence studies showed that the compounds absorb UV radiation and then emit blue light at about 481 nm with moderate to good fluorescence quantum yields. These compounds also showed high Stokes shifts, and can be used to develop ultrasensitive fluorescent molecular probes to study a variety of biological events and processes.

Bio-Fe3O4-MNPs catalyzed green synthesis of pyrrolo[2,1-a]isoquinoline derivatives using isoquinolium bromide salts: study of antioxidant activity

In this research, a novel, one-pot, efficient procedure with high yield for the synthesis of pyrrolo[2,1-a]isoquinoline derivatives using multi-component reaction of isoquinoline, alkyl bromides, and triphenylphosphine in the presence of Fe3O4-MNPs as catalyst under solvent-free conditions at room temperature is investigated. This study highlights an easy, simple, rapid, and clean method for the preparation of pyrrolo[2,1-a]isoquinoline derivatives. The Fe3O4-MNPs in these reactions were produced employing a green procedure by reduction of ferric chloride solution with pomegranate peel water extract. Additionally, antioxidant activity was studied for the some newly synthesized compounds such as 5a-5d using the DPPH radical trapping and reducing potential of ferric ion experiments and comparing the results with the results of synthetic antioxidants (2-tert-butylhydroquinone, TBHQ; butylated hydroxytoluene, BHT). As a result, compounds 5a-5d show trace DPPH radical trapping and excellent reducing power of ferric ion.

Synthesis and photophysical insights of new fused N-heterocyclic derivatives with isoquinoline skeleton

Six new fused isoquinoline based compounds (compounds 5a-c with pyrrolo[2,1-a] isoquinoline structure and compounds 6a-c with imidazo[2,1-a]isoquinoline skeleton) have been synthesized using the [3 + 2] cycloaddition of the several in situ generated cycloimmonium ylides to ethyl propiolate or ethyl cyanoformate. All the synthesized compounds have been investigated in solution by UV-VIS absorption, steady and time-resolved fluorescence methods. The effect of the substituents on the spectral characteristics has been demonstrated. These derivatives displayed an intense emission between 360 and 420 nm. The emission quantum yields (Phi = 0.54-0.64) of pyrroloisoquinoline derivatives in dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) were significantly higher than those of imidazoquinolines (0.03-0.16). The fluorescence decay of isoquinoline derivatives follows a biexponential law. A noticeable response of these isoquinoline derivatives to sodium hydroxide was observed. (C) 2020 Elsevier B.V.
