Mullet roe is a popular global delicacy that derives its unique roasted flavor from several odors, including savory, rich, salty, and fishy attributes. Despite the nutritional significance of mullet roe, studies on their volatile components are yet to be reported. Headspace-solid-phase microextraction coupled with gas chromatog.-olfactometry and aroma extract dilution anal. was applied to determine the volatile components of roasted mullet roe. Anal. of roasting time and temperature revealed that both are important parameters on aroma generation. Volatiles, including acetic acid, methional, hexanoic acid, and benzeneacetaldehyde were identified as the most potent odorants of raw mullet roe, while 2-ethyl-5-methylpyrazine, 2-ethyl-3,5-dimethylpyrazine, 5-methyl-2-phenyl-2-hexenal, and sulfurol were the primary odorants in roasted mullet roe. Reaction models using the water extract and defatted residue had the most similar flavor profile to that of roasted mullet roe, with Maillard reaction as the key flavor generator in roasted mullet roe.

Baptista-Pires, Luis’s team published research in Water Research in 2021-09-15 | CAS: 117-96-4

Water Research published new progress about Cathodes. 117-96-4 belongs to class isoquinoline, name is Diatrizoic Acid, and the molecular formula is C11H9I3N2O4, Quality Control of 117-96-4.

Baptista-Pires, Luis published the artcileGraphene-based sponges for electrochemical degradation of persistent organic contaminants, Quality Control of 117-96-4, the main research area is persistent organic contaminant graphene sponge electrochem degradation water pollution; Atomic-doped graphene; Chlorine-free electrochemical system; Electrochemical water treatment; Organic pollutants; Reduced graphene oxide-coated sponge.

Graphene-based sponges doped with at. nitrogen and boron were applied for the electrochem. degradation of persistent organic contaminants in one-pass, flow-through mode, and in a low-conductivity supporting electrolyte. The B-doped anode and N-doped cathode was capable of >90% contaminant removal at the geometric anodic c.d. of 173 A m-2. The electrochem. degradation of contaminants was achieved via the direct electron transfer, the anodically formed O3, and by the OHâ€?radicals formed by the decomposition of H2O2 produced at the cathode. The identified transformation products of iopromide show that the anodic cleavage of all three C-I bonds at the aromatic ring was preferential over scissions at the alkyl side chains, suggesting a determining role of the π- π interactions with the graphene surface. In the presence of 20 mM sodium chloride (NaCl), the current efficiency for chlorine production was <0.04%, and there was no chlorate and perchlorate formation, demonstrating a very low electrocatalytic activity of the graphene-based sponge anode towards chloride. Graphene-based sponges were produced using a low-cost, bottom-up method that allows easy introduction of dopants and functionalization of the reduced graphene oxide coating, and thus tailoring of the material for the removal of specific contaminants. El-Taliawy, H. published the artcileOzonation efficiency in removing organic micro pollutants from wastewater with respect to hydraulic loading rates and different wastewaters, Recommanded Product: Diatrizoic Acid, the main research area is ozonization micro pollutant wastewater treatment hydraulic loading.

Organic micro pollutants can be removed from water by ozonization. In this article we studied the performance of ozonization under real life conditions and compared results of the same ozonization pilot plant installed at different wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) thus operating with different waters. The comparability of the removal and reaction rate constants from one waste water treatment plant were low in respect to reaction rate, removal as well as to response to the specific ozone dose. Neither pH-value nor residual nitrite concentrations were the driving force considering these differences. Further tests with different loadings were conducted at the same WWTP under different weather conditions. For the different hydraulic loading of the biol. plant, the ozonization was running with rather similar removal rates concerning the same specific (TOC normalized) ozone dose. The compounds that were removed quant. under dry weather were still removed well with three times dry weather flow. Using a dataset from one WWTP to optimize operation in another one is thus questionable.

Brunner, Andrea M.’s team published research in Science of the Total Environment in 2020-02-25 | CAS: 117-96-4

Science of the Total Environment published new progress about Bioassay. 117-96-4 belongs to class isoquinoline, name is Diatrizoic Acid, and the molecular formula is C11H9I3N2O4, SDS of cas: 117-96-4.

Brunner, Andrea M. published the artcileIntegration of target analyses, non-target screening and effect-based monitoring to assess OMP related water quality changes in drinking water treatment, SDS of cas: 117-96-4, the main research area is drinking water treatment monitoring organic micro pollutant; Bioassays; Drinking water treatment; HRMS-based non-target screening; Organic micro-pollutants; Target analyses; Water quality.

The ever-increasing production and use of chems. lead to the occurrence of organic micro-pollutants (OMPs) in drinking water sources, and consequently the need for their removal during drinking water treatment. Due to the sheer number of OMPs, monitoring using targeted chem. analyses alone is not sufficient to assess drinking water quality as well as changes thereof during treatment. High-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) based non-target screening (NTS) as well as effect-based monitoring using bioassays are promising monitoring tools for a more complete assessment of water quality and treatment performance. Here, we developed a strategy that integrates data from chem. target analyses, NTS and bioassays. We applied it to the assessment of OMP related water quality changes at three drinking water treatment pilot installations. These installations included advanced oxidation processes, ultrafiltration in combination with reverse osmosis, and granular activated carbon filtration. OMPs relevant for the drinking water sector were spiked into the water treated in these installations. Target analyses, NTS and bioassays were performed on samples from all three installations. The NTS data was screened for predicted and known transformation products of the spike-in compounds In parallel, trend profiles of NTS features were evaluated using multivariate anal. methods. Through integration of the chem. data with the biol. effect-based results potential toxicity was accounted for during prioritization. Together, the synergy of the three anal. methods allowed the monitoring of OMPs and transformation products, as well as the integrative biol. effects of the mixture of chems. Through efficient anal., visualization and interpretation of complex data, the developed strategy enabled to assess water quality and the impact of water treatment from multiple perspectives. Such information could not be obtained by any of the three methods alone. The developed strategy thereby provides drinking water companies with an integrative tool for comprehensive water quality assessment.

Kumar, Naresh published the artcileTuning of optical properties of p-phenyl ethenyl-E-furans: A Solvatochromism and Density functional theory, Product Details of C9H10O3, the main research area is phenylethenyl furan preparation optical electronic property substituent effect; Absorption; Density functional theory; Dipole moment; Fluorescence; Hyperpolarizability; Oscillator strength; Polarizability; Transition dipole moment.

P-Ph ethenyl-E-furans (1-6) with varied electron donor and acceptor substituent (NO2, CN, Cl, H, OCH3, NH2) were synthesized and studied the substituent induced optical properties (dipole moment, transition dipole moment, oscillator strength, optical band gap, hyperpolarizability) using Solvatochromism and D. functional theory. It is shown that furan acts as a weak electron donor in presence of an electron withdrawing p-Ph substituent (NO2, CN, Cl), whereas furan acts as a weak electron acceptor in presence of an electron donating p-Ph substituent (OCH3, NH2). In comparison to ethenylfuran 4, the HOMO-LUMO energy band gap is decreased upon increasing the electron donating or electron withdrawing nature of the Ph ring. Calculation of excited state dipole moment and polarizability of 1-6 in solvent of varying polarity suggest that the nitro and amino compounds (1, 6) exhibit charge transfer excited state, whereas excited state of compounds 3-5 is non-polar in nature. As compared to the ethenylfuran (4), the first hyperpolarizability (β) is increased in presence of a strong electron withdrawing or strong electron donating p-Ph substituent. The higher β value is found for ethenylfuran with p-nitrophenyl and p-amino Ph substitution. Overall, these studies provide useful information in tuning the optical properties of p-Ph substituted heterocyclic ethenyl systems.

The design of catalysts with high activity, selectivity, and stability is key to the electroreduction of CO2. Herein, we report the synthesis of 3D hierarchical metal/polymer-carbon paper (M/polymer-CP) electrodes by in situ electrosynthesis. The 3D polymer layer on CP (polymer-CP) was first prepared by in situ electropolymerization, then a 3D metal layer was decorated on the polymer-CP to produce the M/polymer-CP electrode. Electrodes with different metals (e.g. Cu, Pd, Zn, Sn) and various polymers could be prepared by this method. The electrodes could efficiently reduce CO2 to desired products, such as C2H4, CO, and HCOOH, depending on the metal used. For example, C2H4 could be formed with a Faradaic efficiency of 59.4% and a c.d. of 30.2 mA cm-2 by using a very stable Cu/PANI-CP electrode in an H-type cell. Control experiments and theor. calculations showed that the 3D hierarchical structure of the metals and in situ formation of the electrodes are critical for the excellent performance.
