Two-dimensional (2D) covalent organic nanosheets (CONs) present versatile 2D materials, which hold great promise in mixed matrix membranes. The facile synthesis of CONs for the fabrication of mixed matrix membranes represents the development trend. Herein, mixed matrix membranes with facilitated transport ability were prepared based on self-exfoliated covalent organic nanosheets (CONs) and poly(ether-block-amide) (Pebax MH 1657) matrix. The self-exfoliated TpDT CONs were facilely synthesized via Schiff base condensation reaction between 1,3,5-triformylphloroglucinol (Tp) and 3,5-diamino-1,2,4-triazole (DT). Abundant amine groups on TpDT CONs skeleton served as facilitated transport carriers to promote the transport of CO2 by reversible nucleophilic addition reactions. And the highly ordered channels of TpDT CONs allowed the rapid transportation of CO2 mols. to reach the facilitated transport carriers. Moreover, the incorporated TpDT CONs disturbed the packing of the Pebax chains by the intervention effects and increased the chain mobility. The facilitated transport carriers from TpDT CONs and the optimized structure endowed the as-prepared membranes with elevated permeance and selectivity. Specially, the Pebax-TpDT/PVDF membranes with 1 wt% TpDT CONs achieved an optimum CO2/CH4 separation performance with a separation factor of 36.0 and a CO2 permeance of 142.3 GPU, which were increased by 68% and 131%, resp., compared with the pristine Pebax membrane.

Linear polyurethane urea containing 1,2,4-triazole segments was obtained by polyaddition of the 3,5-diamino-1,2,4-triazole (DATA) to urethane prepolymer. Also, three crosslinked polymers with different crosslinkers (2,4,6-triaminopyrimidine (TAP), glycerin (Gly), castor oil (CO)) were synthesized. Thermogravimetric anal., of the obtained polymers, indicated good thermal stability up to 310°C. The polyurethane urea chem. structure was confirmed by FTIR anal. The glass transition temperatures (Tg) of these polymers, measured by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), were found in the range of -52°C to -56°C. These values were not significantly influenced by the structure of the hard domain and the intermol. interactions. The tensile testing showed that the inclusion of 1,2,4-triazole in polyurethane structure substantially improves the tensile strength up to 58 MPa. The obtained polyurethane urea presents surface slight hydrophobic and low interfacial tension. The pos. effect of the 1,2,4-triazole segment from the polymer main chain in the UV aging process of these polymer materials has been studied. After exposure to UV radiation, few changes were observed in the mol. structure, in the surface morphol. and the mech. properties.

Feng, Xiaoquan published the artcileHigh-flux polyamide membrane with improved chlorine resistance for efficient dye/salt separation based on a new N-rich amine monomer, HPLC of Formula: 1455-77-2, the main research area is amine monomer polyamide membrane chlorine resistance.

Interfacial polymerization is the gold standard for manufacturing thin film composite (TFC) membranes for nanofiltration (NF) and reverse osmosis (RO). However, typical polyamide (PA) thin film composite (TFC) membranes fabricated by interfacial polymerization are inappropriate for dye wastewater zero discharge and are susceptible to oxidizing agents. In this study, by using a new N-rich amine monomer 3,5-diamino-1,2,4-triazole (DAT), a novel PA TFC membrane was fabricated for the separation of dyes and salts. It is speculated that the unique mol. structure of DAT can conducive to the formation of a less compact polyamide layer with improved chlorine resistance. The optimum membrane shows an ultrahigh pure water permeability (95.1 L/m2·h·bar) and an excellent dye/salt separation selectivity for Congo red and NaCl (rejection, 99.1% and 5.8%, resp.). This is superior to that of the two commonly used dye/salt separation com. membranes (Sepro NF 6 and NF 2A, Ultura). Furthermore, the resultant DAT/TMC TFC membranes maintained their original separation efficacy after 120 h of immersion in NaClO solution, demonstrating their good chlorine resistance. In summary, this study not only expands the application of interfacial polymerization, but also provides a new inspiration for the preparation of advanced membranes for efficient dye/salt separation

Separation and Purification Technology published new progress about Contact angle. 117-96-4 belongs to class isoquinoline, name is Diatrizoic Acid, and the molecular formula is C11H9I3N2O4, Synthetic Route of 117-96-4.

Azais, Antonin published the artcileNanofiltration for wastewater reuse: Counteractive effects of fouling and matrice on the rejection of pharmaceutical active compounds, Synthetic Route of 117-96-4, the main research area is nanofiltration wastewater reuse counteractive fouling matrice rejection pharmaceutical active.

This study investigates the influence of fouling and solute-solute interactions on the rejection of four pharmaceutical active compounds (PhACs) by two com. nanofiltration (NF) membranes for a water reuse purpose. Membrane bioreactor effluent was filtered and modification of membrane surface was fully characterized (roughness, MWCO, contact angle, zeta potential…). Polysaccharides and humic acid were the major compounds adsorbed on the membrane which causes the flux decline. Flux decline was more severe for NF-90 than NF-270 due to a higher roughness and hydrophobicity and smaller pore size. This fouling layer modified the membrane surface properties like hydrophobicity and charge. PhACs were then filtered in Milli-Q water, using virgin and pre-fouled membranes, or in real effluent, using virgin membranes, to identify basic phenomena involved in their retention. It appeared that changes in membrane surface affected transport and retention of salts and PhACs in comparison with unfouled membranes, especially for NF-270. The comparison between filtration of PhACs in Milli-Q water or real effluent evidenced the effect of solute-solute interactions on retention. For all tested PhACs, rejection by NF-270 was improved when filtering spiked MBR effluent in comparison with spiked Milli-Q. The influence of the matrice was less pronounced for the NF-90. Two counteractive mechanisms appeared to be involved in the rejection of pharmaceuticals by a loose-NF like NF-270: adsorption onto macromols. in the surrounding matrice resulting in increased rejection and the presence of a fouling layer leading to decrease in rejection. Finally, NF-90 could be a possible alternative to the systematic reverse osmosis scheme and allowed great rejection capacities and cost saving.

Water Research published new progress about Bond cleavage. 117-96-4 belongs to class isoquinoline, name is Diatrizoic Acid, and the molecular formula is C11H9I3N2O4, Name: Diatrizoic Acid.

Radjenovic, Jelena published the artcileSulfate-mediated electrooxidation of X-ray contrast media on boron-doped diamond anode, Name: Diatrizoic Acid, the main research area is boron diamond anode sulfate electrooxidation Xray contrast medium; Degradation mechanism; Diatrizoate; Electrochemical oxidation; Hydroxyl radical; Iopromide; Sulfate radicals.

Recently, electrochem. activation of sulfate ions to sulfate radical species and nonradically activated persulfate has been demonstrated at boron-doped diamond (BDD) anode, which enhanced the electrooxidation kinetics of several persistent contaminants. In this study, we investigated the transformation pathways of two X-ray contrast media (ICM), diatrizoate and iopromide, in electrooxidation at BDD anode using sulfate and inert nitrate anolyte. Sulfate anolyte yielded a seven-fold increase in apparent rate constants for ICM oxidation compared to inert nitrate anolyte, and a two-fold increase for the removal of organic carbon. Higher iodine release was observed in electrooxidation of diatrizoate compared to iopromide. In the case of diatrizoate, around 80% of deiodination efficiency was achieved in both anolytes. Deiodination efficiency of iopromide was somewhat lower in nitrate anolyte (5%) and significantly reduced in sulfate anolyte (6%) due to a larger steric hindrance of alkyl side chains. Moreover, a considerable lag phase of iopromide deiodination was observed in sulfate anolyte, indicating that initial oxidation reactions took place almost exclusively at the alkyl side chains. Several transformation products (TPs) of ICM were identified in electrooxidation in sulfate anolyte, and only three TPs in the case of nitrate anolyte. The main mechanistic steps in the oxidation of iopromide were H-abstraction and bond cleavage in the alkyl side chains. Diatrizoate was mainly transformed through oxidative cleavage of iodine substituent and inter-mol. cyclization. Two hydroxylamine derivatives of iopromide and a nitro-derivative of diatrizoate were observed in sulfate anolyte. These products have not been reported previously for hydroxyl radical-mediated oxidation of ICM. Given that electron-transfer mechanism is more typical for sulfate than for hydroxyl radicals, formation of hydroxylamine and nitro-derivatives of ICM was assigned to one-electron charge transfer to sulfate radical species and formation of N-centered radicals.

Polarity-reversal catalysts enable otherwise sluggish or completely ineffective reactions which are characterized by unfavorable polar effects between radicals and substrates. We herein disclose that when irradiated by visible light, bromine can behave as a polarity-reversal catalyst. Hydroacylation of vinyl arenes, a three-component cascade transformation and deuteration of aldehydes were each achieved in a metal-free manner without initiators by using inexpensive N-bromosuccinimide as the precatalyst. Light is essential to generate and maintain the active bromine radical during the reaction process. Another key to success is that HBr can behave as an effective hydrogen donor to turn over the catalytic cycles.

Moving away from dichloromethane, Name: 1,3-Dimethoxybenzene, the main research area is peptide solid phase synthesis chlorotrityl chloride resin green chem; resin cleavage green solvent TFA anisole dimethoxybenzene.

In recent years, the work of various research groups has allowed the substitution of the hazardous solvents most widely used in solid-phase peptide synthesis, namely DMF, NMP, DCM, DEE, among others, by several much less hazardous solvents. Indeed, greener alternatives have been found for almost all steps of the process, with the exception of the cleavage of protected peptides from 2-chlorotrityl chloride resin. Here, after careful screening of several of the so-called green solvents, we propose 2% TFA in either anisole or 1,3-dimethoxybenzene as optimal for the cleavage step. The higher b.p. of these solvents compared with the DCM allows the preparation of protected peptides with less risk of premature removal of the most labile protecting groups, such as the Trt of His. Our findings once again evidence the value/versatility of green solvents in strict chem. terms.

Voelker, Johannes’s team published research in Water Research in 2017-06-01 | CAS: 117-96-4

Water Research published new progress about Bioindicators. 117-96-4 belongs to class isoquinoline, name is Diatrizoic Acid, and the molecular formula is C11H9I3N2O4, Category: isoquinoline.

Voelker, Johannes published the artcileExtended anaerobic conditions in the biological wastewater treatment: Higher reduction of toxicity compared to target organic micropollutants, Category: isoquinoline, the main research area is Desmodesmus Daphnia Potamopyrgus Lumbriculus wastewater treatment plant; Bioassays; Biodegradation; Chemical analysis; Pharmaceuticals; Sewage treatment; Trace pollutants.

Extended anaerobic conditions during biol. wastewater treatment may enhance the biodegradation of micropollutants. To explore this, we combined iron-reducing or substrate-limited anaerobic conditions and aerobic pilot-scale reactors directly at a wastewater treatment plant. To investigate the detoxification by these processes, we applied two in vitro bioassays for baseline toxicity (Microtox) and reactive toxicity (AREc32) as well as in vivo bioassays with aquatic model species in two laboratory experiments (Desmodesmus subspicatus, Daphnia magna) and two on-site, flow-through experiments (Potamopyrgus antipodarum, Lumbriculus variegatus). Moreover, we analyzed 31 commonly occurring micropollutants and 10 metabolites. The baseline toxicity of raw wastewater was effectively removed in full-scale and reactor scale activated sludge treatment (>85%), while the oxidative stress response was only partially removed (>61%). A combination of an anaerobic pre-treatment under iron reducing conditions and an aerobic nitrification significantly further reduced the residual in vitro toxicities by 46-60% and outperformed the second combination consisting of an aerobic pre-treatment and an anaerobic post-treatment under substrate-limiting conditions (27-43%). Exposure to effluents of the activated sludge treatment did not induce adverse in vivo effects in aquatic invertebrates. Accordingly, no further improvement in water quality could be observed Compared to that, the removal of persistent micropollutants was increased. However, this observation was restricted to a limited number of compounds and the removal of the sum concentration of all target micropollutants was relative low (14-17%). In conclusion, combinations of strictly anaerobic and aerobic processes significantly enhanced the removal of specific and non-specific in vitro toxicities. Thus, an optimization of biol. wastewater treatment can lead to a substantially improved detoxification. These otherwise hidden capacities of a treatment technol. can only be uncovered by a complementary biol. anal.

Hofman-Caris, C. H. M. published the artcileRemoval of pharmaceuticals from WWTP effluent: Removal of EfOM followed by advanced oxidation, Safety of Diatrizoic Acid, the main research area is pharmaceutical WWTP effluent EfOM oxidation.

Wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) throughout the Netherlands contain significant concentrations of pharmaceuticals (25-65 μg/L) and about 10-20 mg C/L dissolved non-biodegradable organic matter. By IEX mainly the humic acid fraction of the effluent organic matter can be removed, whereas O3/biofiltration mainly removes the hydrophobic fraction. For the first time the combination of these processes with O3/H2O2, UV/H2O2 or UV/O3 was tested for the removal of pharmaceuticals from wastewater effluent. Based on initial laboratory experiments, a pilot installation was built in which IEX followed by UV/H2O2 was applied to real WWTP effluent. The process appeared to be very robust, and able to remove a very broad range of different pharmaceuticals. The addnl. costs for this treatment are estimated at approx. euro0.34/m3-treated effluent, which is in the same order of magnitude as estimated for other addnl., but less versatile, treatment processes.
