Sendeski, Mauricio published the artcileConstriction of the vasa recta, the vessels supplying the area at risk for acute kidney injury, by four different iodinated contrast media, evaluating ionic, nonionic, monomeric and dimeric agents., Synthetic Route of 117-96-4, the main research area is .

OBJECTIVE: Iodinated contrast media (CM) can potentially cause contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN). It is not clear, however, whether particular types of CM are more prone to cause CIN than others. In this study we compare 4 types of CM (ionic vs. nonionic; monomer vs. dimer) on their effects on the microvessels that supply the area at risk for renal damage in CIN (outer medullary descending vasa recta-DVR). MATERIAL AND METHODS: Using microdissection techniques, single DVR were isolated from rats and perfused using a set of concentric pipettes. After stabilization, perfusate was exchanged for a buffered solution containing either vehicle, or amidotrizoate (an ionic/monomeric CM), ioxaglate (an ionic/dimeric CM), iopromide (a nonionic/monomeric CM), and iodixanol (a nonionic/dimeric CM). The final iodine concentration was 23 mg iodine/mL, a concentration similar to that expected for coronary interventions. At this dilution, properties of CM solutions like viscosity and osmolarity are similar to the vehicle solution. To rule out further influence of CM-osmolarity and viscosity, the DVR bath solution was kept isoosmolar to the perfusate. Angiotensin II dose response curves were performed after the 20 minutes of perfusion. Digital videomicroscopy was used for measurements of luminal diameter. RESULTS: All types of CM reduced luminal diameter of perfused DVR in a similar manner. After 20 minutes of perfusion, size of DVR were: 45% +/- 7% of initial diameter for the amidotrizoate-group; 53% +/- 6% for the ioxaglate-group; 63% +/- 11% for the iopromide-group; and 49% +/- 8% for the iodixanol-group. Control group remained at 96% +/- 4% of initial diameter. The angiotensin II dose response curves showed greater reactivity for amidotrizoate, iopromide and iodixanol, when compared with controls. CONCLUSION: Under conditions where effects of osmolarity and viscosity are kept insignificant, perfusion of DVR using different types of iodinated CM leads to similar constriction of DVR. The response to angiotensin II was enhanced in 3 of the tested CM. This may be an important mechanism in the pathophysiology of CIN.

Guerrisi, A published the artcileDiagnostic accuracy of translucency rendering to differentiate polyps from pseudopolyps at 3D endoluminal CT colonography: a feasibility study., Category: isoquinoline, the main research area is .

PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to assess the accuracy of translucency rendering (TR) in computed tomographic (CT) colonography without cathartic preparation using primary 3D reading. MATERIALS AND METHODS: From 350 patients with 482 endoscopically verified polyps, 50 pathologically proven polyps and 50 pseudopolyps were retrospectively examined. For faecal tagging, all patients ingested 140 ml of orally administered iodinated contrast agent (diatrizoate meglumine and diatrizoate sodium) at meals 48 h prior to CT colonography examination and two h prior to scanning. CT colonography was performed using a 64-section CT scanner. Colonoscopy with segmental unblinding was performed within 2 weeks after CT. Three independent radiologists retrospectively evaluated TRCT clonographic images using a dedicated software package (V3D-Colon System). To enable size-dependent statistical analysis, lesions were stratified into the following size categories: small (< or =5 mm), intermediate (6-9 mm), and large (> or =10 mm). RESULTS: Overall average TR sensitivity for polyp characterisation was 96.6%, and overall average specificity for pseudopolyp characterisation was 91.3%. Overall average diagnostic accuracy (area under the curve) of TR for characterising colonic lesions was 0.97. CONCLUSIONS: TR is an accurate tool that facilitates interpretation of images obtained with a primary 3D analysis, thus enabling easy differentiation of polyps from pseudopolyps.

Atluri, Sumanth published the artcileOptimizing multidetector CT for visualization of splenic vascular injury. Validation by splenic arteriography in blunt abdominal trauma patients., HPLC of Formula: 117-96-4, the main research area is .

Nonoperative management of blunt splenic injury is the treatment of choice in hemodynamically stable patients. Detection of vascular injury by multidetector CT (MDCT) is the most significant factor predicting the need for endovascular treatment. This study evaluated the timing of the appearance of vascular lesions during angiography. Images from 20 patients embolized for pseudoaneurysms (PSA) were evaluated. Angiograms were reviewed for phase and timing of PSA. Admission MDCT was reviewed for injury grade and PSA. Initial MDCT evaluation indicated grade III and IV splenic injuries in 9 and 11 patients, respectively. PSA was seen on MDCT in 14/20 (70%) patients. Time from opacification of the aorta to vascular injury was 1.32 s for arterial phase injuries compared with 2.05 s for postcapillary injuries (P=0.097). Angiography demonstrated 15 vascular injuries during the arterial and 5 in the venous phase. Of injuries seen during arterial phase angiography, 10/15 (66%) were identified on MDCT. Of the five injuries that exhibited postcapillary-phase findings, 4/5 (80%) demonstrated PSA (P=0.5). Vascular lesions are a better indicator of subsequent clinical deterioration than splenic injury grade. PSAs are more frequently seen in postcapillary vascular injuries than arterial phase lesions with the current timing of MDCT. In a subset of patients in whom splenic injury grades III and IV warrant angiography, PSAs are not initially demonstrated on MDCT. Therefore, alteration of MDCT timing parameters to better correlate with arterial phase angiography may improve initial diagnosis of vascular injury.

European radiology published new progress in MEDLINE about 117-96-4, 117-96-4 belongs to class isoquinoline, name is Diatrizoic Acid, and the molecular formula is C11H9I3N2O4, Computed Properties of 117-96-4.

Kim, Bohyun published the artcileIohexol versus diatrizoate for fecal/fluid tagging during CT colonography performed with cathartic preparation: comparison of examination quality., Computed Properties of 117-96-4, the main research area is .

OBJECTIVE: We aimed to compare iohexol vs. diatrizoate as fecal/fluid tagging agents for computed tomography colonography (CTC) regarding examination quality. METHODS: Forty prospective patients (M:Fâ€?â€?3:17; 63 ±â€?1.6 years) received CTC using 50 mL (350 mgI/mL) oral iohexol for tagging. Forty other indication-matched, age-matched, and sex-matched patients who underwent CTC using 100 mL diatrizoate for tagging and otherwise the same technique, were retrospectively identified. Two groups were compared regarding overall examination quality, per-patient and per-segment scores of colonic bubbles (0 [no bubbles] to 5 [the largest amount]), and the volume, attenuation, and homogeneity (untagged, layered, and homogeneous) of the residual colonic fluid. RESULTS: The iohexol group demonstrated a greater amount of colonic bubbles than the diatrizoate group: mean per-patient scores ± SD of 1.2 ±â€?.8 vs. 0.7 ±â€?.6, respectively (pâ€?â€?.003); and rates of segments showing ≥ grade 3 bubbles of 12.9 % (85/659) vs. 1.6 % (11/695), respectively (pâ€?â€?.001). Residual colonic fluid amount standardized to the colonic volume did not significantly differ: 7.2 % ±â€?.2 vs. 7.8 % ±â€?.7, respectively (pâ€?â€?.544). Tagged fluid attenuation was mostly comparable between groups and the fluid was homogeneously tagged in 98.7 % (224/227) vs. 99.5 % (218/219) segments, respectively (pâ€?â€?.344). Iohexol caused more colonic bubbles when used during cathartic CTC. Otherwise, examination quality was similarly adequate with both iohexol and diatrizoate. KEY POINTS: â€?When used for tagging, iohexol caused significantly more colonic bubbles than diatrizoate. â€?The residual colonic fluid amount did not significantly differ between iohexol and diatrizoate. â€?The quality of fluid tagging was similarly adequate in both iohexol and diatrizoate.

Somsouk, Ma published the artcileEsophageal varices on computed tomography and subsequent variceal hemorrhage., Application of Diatrizoic Acid, the main research area is .

PURPOSE: Endoscopy is recommended to screen for esophageal varices in patients with cirrhosis. The objective of this study was to identify features on abdominal CT imaging associated variceal hemorrhage (VH). METHODS: A case-control study was performed among patients with cirrhosis who had a CT scan. Consecutive patients who experienced VH were included as cases, and patients without VH served as controls. Two radiologists recorded the maximal esophageal varix diameter in addition to other measures of portal hypertension at CT. RESULTS: The most powerful CT parameter associated with VH was the esophageal varix diameter (5.8 vs. 2.7 mm, p < 0.001; adjusted OR 1.84 per mm, p = 0.009). 63% of individuals with VH had a maximal varix diameter â‰? mm compared to 7.5% of cirrhotic patients without VH (p < 0.001). In contrast, the proportion of individuals whose largest varix was <3 mm was 7.4% among VH cases compared to 54.7% among controls (p = 0.001). The varix diameter powerfully discriminated those with and without VH (C-statistic 0.84). CONCLUSIONS: A large esophageal varix diameter is strongly associated with subsequent VH. A threshold of <3 and â‰? mm appears to identify patients with cirrhosis at low and high risk for hemorrhage. Vidal, Pablo published the artcileResidual gastric volume estimated with a new radiological volumetric model: relationship with weight loss after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy., COA of Formula: C11H9I3N2O4, the main research area is .

BACKGROUND: The volume of the gastric reservoir appears crucial to explain the success of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) in the treatment of morbid obesity. The aims of this study were to describe a new, easy model to estimate gastric reservoir volume after LSG; to evaluate the volumetric changes 1 year after surgery; and to analyze their relationship with weight loss. METHODS: This is a prospective observational study of all patients undergoing LSG in the Department of Surgery at our institution. The gastric reservoir was evaluated radiologically considering the image as a complex geometrical shape with two components: a cylinder (gastric body) and a truncated cone (antrum). Radiologic assessment using this new model was performed at 1 and 12 months after surgery. Moreover, body mass index and percentage of excess weight loss (%EWL) were evaluated at 3, 6, 12, and 18 months after LSG. RESULTS: Forty-five patients (34 F/11 M) with a mean age of 46.9 years were included. A significant increase in total gastric reservoir volume (124.8 ±â€?8.7 and 188.6 ±â€?6.4 mL at 1 and 12 months, respectively; pâ€?â€?.001) was observed. No statistically significant differences were observed comparing volume of the two components at the two time points. The %EWL at 18 months was inversely correlated with reservoir volume changes at 12 months after LSG (pâ€?â€?.006). CONCLUSIONS: We describe an easy volumetric model to estimate the size of the gastric reservoir after LSG. Moreover, a direct relationship between an increase in gastric reservoir volume and a lower weight loss after surgery was documented.

Jørgsholm, Peter published the artcileEpidemiology of scaphoid fractures and non-unions: A systematic review., Category: isoquinoline, the main research area is .

BACKGROUND: The scaphoid is the most commonly fractured carpal bone in adults as well as in children. Previous studies have reported a wide range of fracture incidences. Scaphoid fractures and non-unions in children have been sparsely investigated. AIM: To perform a systematic review of the current literature on epidemiology of scaphoid fractures and non-unions in adults and children. METHODS: An electronic literature search was conducted investigating all studies in the literature published between January 1989 and June 23 2020. The systematic review following the PRISMA guidelines and searching in PubMed, Embase, Web of Science and Cochrane library databases was done in June 2020. RESULTS: 42 studies met our inclusion criteria, 6 studies were prospective, 32 were retrospective and 4 were register studies. The majority of studies relied on conventional radiographs for diagnosis. Scaphoid fractures in adults are predominately found in males with a peak incidence in the age group from 20 to 29 years. Incidence rates in males are reported from 107 to 151/100â€?00. Females have an earlier peak, in the age group 10 to 19 years, with an incidence from 14 to 46/100â€?00. Most fractures occur in the middle third of the scaphoid representing 60-69â€? of cases. Scaphoid fractures in children are predominately found in boys age 12 and above, while it seldomly occur for children younger than 9 years. In adults the risk for developing a scaphoid non-union is between 2â€? and 5â€?, the majority affecting males and predominately located at the middle third of the scaphoid. Non-unions among children are rare and mainly due to missed or delayed diagnosis of a fracture in the middle third of the scaphoid. CONCLUSION: This review revealed a substantial heterogeneity among studies concerning study population, diagnosis criterial and outcome measures. Currently, evidence on epidemiology for scaphoid fractures and non-unions are low.

Wiegand, Susanne published the artcileSclerotherapy of lymphangiomas of the head and neck., Recommanded Product: Diatrizoic Acid, the main research area is .

Lymphangiomas are congenital malformations of the lymphatic system that consist of cysts of varying size. Although they are benign, they can undergo progressive growth with compression and infiltration of adjacent structures. Surgical excision has been the cornerstone of treatment, although total excision of the lymphangioma can be a major challenge and may be associated with severe complications. Therefore, a variety of nonsurgical methods have been proposed to reduce the surgical morbidity and to decrease the recurrence rate. Percutaneous sclerotherapy of lymphangioma involves the injection of sclerosing substances into the lymphangioma cysts. During the past years, different sclerosants and sclerosant techniques have been developed. This review summarizes the current knowledge on sclerotherapy of lymphangiomas of the head and neck.

Vargas, Hebert Alberto published the artcileBone metastases in castration-resistant prostate cancer: associations between morphologic CT patterns, glycolytic activity, and androgen receptor expression on PET and overall survival., Application In Synthesis of 117-96-4, the main research area is .

PURPOSE: To compare the features of bone metastases at computed tomography (CT) to tracer uptake at fluorine 18 fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) and fluorine 18 16β-fluoro-5-dihydrotestosterone (FDHT) PET and to determine associations between these imaging features and overall survival in men with castration-resistant prostate cancer. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This is a retrospective study of 38 patients with castration-resistant prostate cancer. Two readers independently evaluated CT, FDG PET, and FDHT PET features of bone metastases. Associations between imaging findings and overall survival were determined by using univariate Cox proportional hazards regression. RESULTS: In 38 patients, reader 1 detected 881 lesions and reader 2 detected 867 lesions. Attenuation coefficients at CT correlated inversely with FDG (reader 1: r = -0.3007; P < .001; reader 2: r = -0.3147; P < .001) and FDHT (reader 1: r = -0.2680; P = .001; reader 2: r = -0.3656; P < .001) uptake. The number of lesions on CT scans was significantly associated with overall survival (reader 1: hazard ratio [HR], 1.025; P = .05; reader 2: HR, 1.021; P = .04). The numbers of lesions on FDG and FDHT PET scans were significantly associated with overall survival for reader 1 (HR, 1.051-1.109; P < .001) and reader 2 (HR, 1.026-1.082; P â‰?.009). Patients with higher FDHT uptake (lesion with the highest maximum standardized uptake value) had significantly shorter overall survival (reader 1: HR, 1.078; P = .02; reader 2: HR, 1.092; P = .02). FDG uptake intensity was not associated with overall survival (reader 1, P = .65; reader 2, P = .38). CONCLUSION: In patients with castration-resistant prostate cancer, numbers of bone lesions on CT, FDG PET, and FDHT PET scans and the intensity of FDHT uptake are significantly associated with overall survival. Radiology published new progress in MEDLINE about 117-96-4, 117-96-4 belongs to class isoquinoline, name is Diatrizoic Acid, and the molecular formula is C11H9I3N2O4, Quality Control of 117-96-4.

Helbren, Emma published the artcileCT colonography: clinical evaluation of a method for automatic coregistration of polyps at follow-up surveillance studies., Quality Control of 117-96-4, the main research area is .

PURPOSE: To evaluate the accuracy of a method of automatic coregistration of the endoluminal surfaces at computed tomographic (CT) colonography performed on separate occasions to facilitate identification of polyps in patients undergoing polyp surveillance. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Institutional review board and HIPAA approval were obtained. A registration algorithm that was designed to coregister the coordinates of endoluminal colonic surfaces on images from prone and supine CT colonographic acquisitions was used to match polyps in sequential studies in patients undergoing polyp surveillance. Initial and follow-up CT colonographic examinations in 26 patients (35 polyps) were selected and the algorithm was tested by means of two methods, the longitudinal method (polyp coordinates from the initial prone and supine acquisitions were used to identify the expected polyp location automatically at follow-up CT colonography) and the consistency method (polyp coordinates from the initial supine acquisition were used to identify polyp location on images from the initial prone acquisition, then on those for follow-up prone and follow-up supine acquisitions). Two observers measured the Euclidean distance between true and expected polyp locations, and mean per-patient registration accuracy was calculated. Segments with and without collapse were compared by using the Kruskal-Wallace test, and the relationship between registration error and temporal separation was investigated by using the Pearson correlation. RESULTS: Coregistration was achieved for all 35 polyps by using both longitudinal and consistency methods. Mean ± standard deviation Euclidean registration error for the longitudinal method was 17.4 mm ± 12.1 and for the consistency method, 26.9 mm ± 20.8. There was no significant difference between these results and the registration error when prone and supine acquisitions in the same study were compared (16.9 mm ± 17.6; P = .451). CONCLUSION: Automatic endoluminal coregistration by using an algorithm at initial CT colonography allowed prediction of endoluminal polyp location at subsequent CT colonography, thereby facilitating detection of known polyps in patients undergoing CT colonographic surveillance.
