Shen, Nan published the artcilePalladium nanoparticles produced and dispersed by Caldicellulosiruptor saccharolyticus enhance the degradation of contaminants in water, Name: Diatrizoic Acid, the main research area is Caldicellulosiruptor palladium nanoparticle methyl orange diatrizoate wastewater decoloration reduction.

This study focused on examining the general applicability of coupling bio-palladium (Pd) nanoparticle generation and bio-H2 produced by Caldicellulosiruptor saccharolyticus for wastewater treatment under extreme thermophilic conditions. Na2PdCl4 was added to cell cultures to achieve a final Pd concentration of 50 mg L-1. Methyl orange (MO) and diatrizoate were chosen as the contaminants in water. In the cultures with, and without, Pd added, MO (100 mg L-1) was degraded within 30 min and in over 6 h, resp. Diatrizoate (20 mg L-1) was degraded within 10 min in Pd-added cultures. However, no diatrizoate degradation happened without Pd addition The degradation rates were correlated pos. with dissolved hydrogen generated by C. saccharolyticus. Furthermore, the catalytic actions of Pd(0) nanoparticles and cells were distinguished during the degradation process. MO was degraded under the combined action of Pd(0) and hydrogenase. However, Pd(0) was the essential catalyst, and hydrogenase had no effect on the deiodination of diatrizoate within 20 min. Pd(0) particles were dispersed well by the cells of C. saccharolyticus and showed a better catalytic activity than Pd(0) formed without cells. Dissolved hydrogen produced by C. saccharolyticus should be the perfect reduction equivalent for Pd formation and for reducing degradation Therefore, Pd should be added to C. saccharolyticus cultures to enhance the degradation of contaminants in water.

Journal of Chromatography A published new progress about Cosmetics and Personal care products. 117-96-4 belongs to class isoquinoline, name is Diatrizoic Acid, and the molecular formula is C11H9I3N2O4, Safety of Diatrizoic Acid.

Gomez, M. J. published the artcileRapid automated screening, identification and quantification of organic micro-contaminants and their main transformation products in wastewater and river waters using liquid chromatography-quadrupole-time-of-flight mass spectrometry with an accurate-mass database, Safety of Diatrizoic Acid, the main research area is automated screening organic micropollutant degradation product water wastewater; liquid chromatog quadrupole time of flight mass spectrometry analysis; accurate mass database organic micropollutant screening water.

This work developed and evaluated a method for rapid, automated screening and confirmation of a large number of organic micro-pollutants (nearly 400) and quantification of pos. findings in water and wastewater using liquid chromatog./electro-spray quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (LC-QTOFMS) based on an accurate mass database. The created database includes data concerning target analyte accurate masses and characteristic in-source fragment ions, isotopic pattern, and retention time data. This customized database was linked to com. available software which extracted all potential compounds of interest from LC-QTOFMS raw data for each sample and matched them to the database to search for targeted compounds in the sample. Detailed fragmentation information was also used as a tool to automatically identify unknown compounds and/or transformation products with similar structures to those of known organic pollutants in the database. The database can be continually enlarged. To confirm identification of compounds with no fragment ions (or fragments with low intensity/relative abundance) from in-source collision-induced dissociation fragmentation or isomers which were not distinguished in full single mass spectra, a targeted MS/MS method was developed. Thereafter, these compounds can be further analyzed using collision energy (CE) in QTOF-MS/MS mode. Linearity and limits of detection were assessed. In most cases, method detection limits (MDL) for effluent wastewater and river water were ≤5 and ≤2 ng/L, resp. Only 15 compounds had MDL from 5 to 50 ng/L in effluent wastewater. Calibration curves were linear over 2 orders of magnitude. The method was used to analyze actual samples and results showed that most pharmaceutically-active compounds in the created database occurred in water at ng/L to μg/L concentrations; in most of the samples 2-15 pesticides of the 300 in the database were also detected. In addition to the compounds in the database, some degradation products were observed, revealing the method as a useful tool to analyze organic micro-pollutants in water.

Tran, Ngoc Han published the artcileSimultaneous determination of PPCPs, EDCs, and artificial sweeteners in environmental water samples using a single-step SPE coupled with HPLC-MS/MS and isotope dilution, Category: isoquinoline, the main research area is simultaneous determination personal care product endocrine disrupting chem sweetener; personal care product endocrine disrupting chems artificial sweetener determination; solid phase extraction coupled HPLC mass spectrometry isotope dilution; water analysis solid phase extraction HPLC mass spectrometry isotope.

A high-throughput method for the simultaneous determination of 24 pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs), endocrine disrupting chems. (EDCs) and artificial sweeteners (ASs) was developed. The method was based on a single-step solid phase extraction (SPE) coupled with high performance liquid chromatog.-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS) and isotope dilution A single-step SPE procedure was optimized for simultaneous extraction of all target analytes. Good recoveries (≥70%) were observed for all target analytes when extraction was performed using Chromabond HR-X (500 mg, 6 mL) cartridges under acidic condition (pH 2). HPLC-MS/MS parameters were optimized for the simultaneous anal. of 24 PPCPs, EDCs and ASs in a single injection. Quantification was performed using 13 isotopically labeled internal standards (ILIS), which allows correcting efficiently the loss of the analytes during SPE procedure, matrix effects during HPLC-MS/MS and fluctuation in MS/MS signal intensity due to instrument. Method quantification limit (MQL) for most of the target analytes was <10 ng/L in all water samples. The method was applied for the simultaneous determination of PPCPs, EDCs and ASs in raw wastewater, surface water and groundwater from a local catchment area in Singapore. Storck, Florian R. published the artcileFactors controlling micropollutant removal during riverbank filtration, HPLC of Formula: 117-96-4, the main research area is micropollutant removal riverbank water purification filtration.

This article summarizes the results of Water Research Foundation report 3136, Removal and Fate of EDCs and PPCPs in Bank Filtration Systems. The efficiency of bank filtration (BF) as a water treatment process for removing organic trace pollutants in general, and more specifically pharmaceuticals and personal care products and endocrine disrupting compounds, was evaluated. Chem. structure and physicochem. properties of a compound, retention time, and redox setting were identified as key factors controlling removal of trace pollutants. Temperature and discharge of the river were found to be important for the minority of compounds investigated. Results obtained from a literature survey and from water utilities in the United States and Germany, but with different site characteristics and trace pollutant concentrations, were transferable. Concentrations of more than 70 detectable pollutants mostly decreased during bank passage. Persistent substances were mainly EDTA (EDTA), sulfamethoxazole, carbamazepine, amidotrizoic acid, naphthalene-1,5-disulfonate, and naphthalene-1,3,5-trisulfonate.

Science of the Total Environment published new progress about Cosmetics and Personal care products. 117-96-4 belongs to class isoquinoline, name is Diatrizoic Acid, and the molecular formula is C11H9I3N2O4, Recommanded Product: Diatrizoic Acid.

Yang, Yuan-Yuan published the artcilePharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) and artificial sweeteners (ASs) in surface and ground waters and their application as indication of wastewater contamination, Recommanded Product: Diatrizoic Acid, the main research area is pharmaceutical artificial sweetener surface water groundwater wastewater contamination; personal care product artificial sweetener surface water groundwater wastewater; artificial sweetener surface water groundwater wastewater contamination; Artificial sweeteners (ASs); Groundwater; Pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs); Sucralose; Surface water; Wastewater indicator.

We systematically studied the occurrence and distribution of 93 pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) and 5 artificial sweeteners (ASs) in surface water and groundwater of Dongjiang River basin in south China. In surface water, 52 compounds were detected with median concentrations 0.06-504 ng/L, while in groundwater, 33 compounds were detected with concentrations ≤4580 ng/L for acesulfame. PPCPs and ASs were widely detected in the surface water and groundwater samples, which indicated contamination by domestic wastewater in the surface water and groundwater of Dongjiang River basin. Temporal and spatial variations of the detected chems. were observed in surface water. Acesulfame, sucralose and cyclamate can be used as wastewater indicators to imply contamination in groundwater caused by domestic wastewater due to their hydrophilicity, anthropogenic sources and ubiquity in groundwater. The detection of the readily degradable ASs, cyclamate, was a strong indication of untreated wastewater in groundwater. Sucralose was a suitable wastewater indicator to reflect domestic wastewater contamination in surface water and groundwater qual. and quant., and it can be used to evaluate wastewater burden in surface water and groundwater of Dongjiang River basin. The wastewater burden data from this survey implied serious contamination in surface water and groundwater by domestic wastewater at Shima River, a tributary of the Dongjiang River. These findings suggest that the selected labile and conservative chems. can be used as indication of wastewater contamination for aquatic environments qual. and quant.

Tran, Ngoc Han published the artcileOccurrence and suitability of pharmaceuticals and personal care products as molecular markers for raw wastewater contamination in surface water and groundwater, Formula: C11H9I3N2O4, the main research area is groundwater wastewater treatment plant; pharmaceutical personal care product mol marker surface water groundwater.

This study aimed to provide the first and comprehensive data on the occurrence of 17 target pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) in urban water environment in Singapore. Meanwhile, this study also verified the suitability of these PPCPs as specific markers of raw wastewater contamination in receiving water bodies in highly urbanized areas where both surface water and groundwater are not impacted by the discharge of treated wastewater effluents. Anal. results of wastewater showed that among 17 target PPCPs examined, only 5 PPCPs were detected in 100 % of raw wastewater samples, including acetaminophen (ACT), carbamazepine (CBZ), caffeine (CF), diethyltoluamide (DEET), and salicylic acid (SA). Similarly, these PPCPs were found in most surface water and groundwater. Interestingly, the three PPCPs (ACT, CBZ, and SA) were only detected in surface water and groundwater in the sampling sites close to relatively older sewer systems, while they were absent in background samples that were collected from the catchment with no known wastewater sources. This suggests that ACT, CBZ, and SA can be used as specific mol. markers of raw wastewater in surface water and groundwater. This study also confirmed that CF and DEET were not really associated with wastewater sources, thus cannot serve well as specific mol. markers of wastewater contamination in receiving water bodies. To the best knowledge of the authors, the use of ACT and SA as specific mol. markers of raw wastewater contamination in urban surface waters and groundwater was first reported. Further studies on the use of ACT, CBZ, and SA along with other chem./microbial markers are recommended to identify and differentiate contamination sources of surface waters/groundwater.

Storck, Florian R. published the artcileEffects of boundary conditions on the cleaning efficiency of riverbank filtration and artificial groundwater recharge systems regarding bulk parameters and trace pollutants, Formula: C11H9I3N2O4, the main research area is riverbank filtration water purification groundwater recharge system.

Drinking water is often produced from surface water by riverbank filtration (RBF) or artificial groundwater recharge (AGR). In this study, an AGR system was exemplarily investigated and results were compared with those of RBF systems, in which the effects of redox milieu, temperature and surface water discharge on the cleaning efficiency were evaluated. Besides bulk parameters such as DOC (dissolved organic carbon), organic trace pollutants including iodinated x-ray contrast media, personal care products, complexing agents, and pharmaceuticals were investigated. At all studied sites, levels of TOC (total organic carbon), DOC, AOX (adsorbable organic halides), SAC (spectral absorption coefficient at 254 nm), and turbidity were reduced significantly. DOC removal was stimulated at higher groundwater temperatures during AGR. Several substances were generally easily removable during both AGR and RBF, regardless of the site, season, discharge or redox regime. For some more refractory substances, however, removal efficiency turned out to be significantly influenced by redox conditions.

Teijon, Gloria published the artcileOccurrence of emerging contaminants, priority substances (2008/105/CE) and heavy metals in treated wastewater and groundwater at Depurbaix facility (Barcelona, Spain), Quality Control of 117-96-4, the main research area is emerging contaminant priority substance heavy metal treated wastewater groundwater.

The presence of 170 pharmaceuticals, personal care products, priority substances according to the 2008/105EU Directive and 4 metals (Cd, Ni, Hg, Pb) were studied at the Llobregat delta, south of Barcelona, Spain. In the area, reclaimed water is destined to satisfy environmental uses, irrigation and the construction of a hydraulic barrier against seawater intrusion in the deep aquifer of the delta. A monitoring survey was undertaken of water samples from a tertiary wastewater treatment plant (Depurbaix), treated wastewater with an addnl. treatment of ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, and UV disinfection (WWATP, for the hydraulic barrier injection). Groundwater samples from the aquifer receiving recharge were also studied. The pharmaceutical group of substances was detected in sampled waters at concentrations rarely exceeding a few μg/L, among the compounds Caffeine, Nicotine and Galaxolide (musk fragrance) were present in >60% of the samples. Diuron was the only priority substance detected. The 4 metals were always present in a variable concentration After the WWATP treatment the majority of analytes are removed from tertiary treated wastewater or their concentration is reduced to <0.1 μg/L. Monitoring revealed a widespread occurrence of analyzed compounds in groundwater. Among them Codeine (analgesic), Ibuprofen (anti-inflammatory), Iopamidol, Iopromide (contrast agent) and Paraxanthine (metabolite of caffeine) have only been detected in groundwater, and are not present in water currently being injected in the deep aquifer. Gala, Inmaculada Velo published the artcileDegradation of X-ray contrast media diatrizoate in different water matrices by gamma irradiation, COA of Formula: C11H9I3N2O4, the main research area is wastewater gamma ray irradiation diatrizoate.

The study analyzes the effectiveness of gamma irradiation in removing diatrizoate contrast from different water matrixes: ultrapure water, surface water, groundwater and wastewater. The use of gamma irradiation for degradation is influenced by coexisting substances in natural waters and wastewaters. The influence of the presence of anions Cl-,NO2-,NO3-,SO42- and CO32-/HCO3- on the degradation of diatrizoate by gamma irradiation was investigated. Study results indicate that: (1) diatrizoate radiolysis fits pseudo-first-order kinetics, removal of 91.9% of the diatrizoate was achieved at a dose of 1000 Gy, (2) diatrizoate degradation depends on the type of water matrix, with the radiolysis being affected by the presence of anions, as follows: (i) high concentrations of Cl- increase the efficacy of the process; and (ii) low concentrations of NO2- markedly decrease the degradation rate, because nitrite ions act as scavengers of eaq-, hydroxyl radical and hydrogen radical, (3) TOC values showed that diatrizoate does not mineralize at a dose of 1000 Gy. Radiolysis degrades diatrizoate by more than 90%, results obtained indicate that it is not mineralized, with TOC values remaining constant in all waters studied. © 2013 Society of Chem. Industry.

Redeker, Maria published the artcileAnaerobic Transformation of the Iodinated X-ray Contrast Medium Iopromide, Its Aerobic Transformation Products, and Transfer to Further Iodinated X-ray Contrast Media, Product Details of C11H9I3N2O4, the main research area is iopromide ICM aerobic anaerobic transformation product.

The iodinated X-ray contrast medium (ICM) iopromide and its aerobic transformation products (TPs) are frequently detected in the effluents of wastewater treatment plants and in different compartments of the aquatic environment. In this study, the anaerobic transformation of iopromide and its aerobic TPs was investigated in water-sediment systems. Iopromide, its final aerobic TP didespropanediol iopromide (DDPI), and its primary aniline desmethoxyacetyl iopromide (DAMI) were used as model substances. Five biol. formed anaerobic TPs of iopromide and DAMI and six of DDPI, and the resp. transformation pathways, were identified. The TPs were formed by successive deiodination and hydrolysis of amide moieties. Quantification of the iodinated TPs was achieved by further development of a complementary liquid chromatog. (LC)-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (Q-ToF-MS) and LC-inductively coupled plasma – mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) strategy without needing authentic standards, despite several TPs coeluting with others. A database with predicted anaerobic TPs of ICMs was derived by applying the transformation rules found for the anaerobic transformation pathways of iopromide and diatrizoate to further ICMs (iomeprol and iopamidol) and their aerobic TPs already reported in the literature. The environmental relevance of the identified transformation pathways was confirmed by identifying an exptl. TP and two predicted TPs using suspect screening of water taken from anaerobic bank filtration zones.
