Gu, Lin published the artcileInsights into the role of an Fe-N active site in the oxygen reduction reaction on carbon-supported supramolecular catalysts, Product Details of C2H5N5, the main research area is iron nitrogen active site oxygen reduction carbon supramol catalyst.

In this study, a nitrogen-containing ligand supramol. named PPYTZ was successfully synthesized using 2,6-pyridinedicarboxylic acid chloride and 3,5-diamino-1,2,4-triazole in order to carry out oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). Such a polymer provides abundant coordination sites for iron ions, and the PPYTZ-Fe/C composite catalyst was formed with the PPYTZ-Fe complex loading on the surface of Vulcan XC-72 carbon. The phys. characteristics and ORR performance of the composite catalysts were characterized systematically via various relevant techniques, and their catalytic activity and reaction mechanism were evaluated and compared. The results showed that the catalytic activities and the reaction mechanism of ORR were highly dependent on the formation of an Fe-N unit. Accordingly, the PPYTZ-Fe/C catalyst containing Fe-N active sites exhibited high ORR catalytic activity (an onset potential of +0.86 V vs. RHE) in 0.1 M KOH. Such an Fe-N catalyst can accelerate the adsorption of O2 and increase the limiting c.d. (from 2.49 mA cm-2 to 4.98 mA cm-2), optimizing the ORR catalytic process from a two-electron process to a four-electron process (an n value of 3.8).

Journal of Hazardous Materials published new progress about Adsorption. 117-96-4 belongs to class isoquinoline, name is Diatrizoic Acid, and the molecular formula is C11H9I3N2O4, HPLC of Formula: 117-96-4.

Norra, Giannis-Florjan published the artcileRemoval of persistent organic contaminants from wastewater using a hybrid electrochemical-granular activated carbon (GAC) system, HPLC of Formula: 117-96-4, the main research area is granular activated carbon organic contaminant wastewater treatment.

A three-dimensional (3D) electrochem. flow-through reactor equipped with GAC packed bed, polarized by the elec. field, was evaluated for the removal of persistent organic contaminants from real sewage effluent. The performance of the reactor was investigated for 27 consecutive runs at two anodic current densities, i.e., low c.d. (LCD) of 15 A m-2, and high c.d. (HCD) of 100 A m-2. In the HCD experiments, the adsorption ability of saturated GAC was increased, mainly due to the increase in the mesoporosity of GAC. A synergy between electrosorption/adsorption on GAC and electrooxidation was observed in terms of the removal of all target pollutants. DEET presented the highest synergy, ranging from 40% to 57%, followed by iopromide (22-46%), carbamazepine (15-34%) and diatrizoate (4-30%). The addition of GAC decreased the concentrations of toxic chlorate and perchlorate by 2-fold and 10-fold, resp., due to their electrosorption on GAC. Also, 3D electrochem. system yielded lower concentrations of adsorbable organic iodide (AOI) and adsorbable organic chlorine (AOCl). Thus, addition of low amounts of GAC in electrochem. systems may be a low-cost and simple way of minimizing the formation and final effluent concentrations of toxic halogenated byproducts.

Altmann, Johannes’s team published research in Water Research in 2016-04-01 | CAS: 117-96-4

Water Research published new progress about Adsorption. 117-96-4 belongs to class isoquinoline, name is Diatrizoic Acid, and the molecular formula is C11H9I3N2O4, COA of Formula: C11H9I3N2O4.

Altmann, Johannes published the artcileCombination of granular activated carbon adsorption and deep-bed filtration as a single advanced wastewater treatment step for organic micropollutant and phosphorus removal, COA of Formula: C11H9I3N2O4, the main research area is granular activated carbon adsorption deep bed filtration wastewater treatment; carbon organic micropollutant phosphorus removal granular activated; Adsorption; Deep-bed filtration; Granular activated carbon (GAC); Organic micropollutants; Wastewater treatment.

Adsorption onto granular activated carbon (GAC) is an established technol. in water and advanced wastewater treatment for the removal of organic substances from the liquid phase. Besides adsorption, the removal of particulate matter by filtration and biodegradation of organic substances in GAC contactors has frequently been reported. The application of GAC as both adsorbent for organic micropollutant (OMP) removal and filter medium for solids retention in tertiary wastewater filtration represents an energy- and space saving option, but has rarely been considered because high dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and suspended solids concentrations in the influent of the GAC adsorber put a significant burden on this integrated treatment step and might result in frequent backwashing and unsatisfactory filtration efficiency. This pilot-scale study investigates the combination of GAC adsorption and deep-bed filtration with coagulation as a single advanced treatment step for simultaneous removal of OMPs and phosphorus from secondary effluent. GAC was assessed as upper filter layer in dual-media downflow filtration and as mono-media upflow filter with regard to filtration performance and OMP removal. Both filtration concepts effectively removed suspended solids and phosphorus, achieving effluent concentrations of 0.1 mg/L TP and 1 mg/L TSS, resp. Anal. of grain size distribution and head loss within the filter bed showed that considerable head loss occurred in the topmost filter layer in downflow filtration, indicating that most particles do not penetrate deeply into the filter bed. Upflow filtration exhibited substantially lower head loss and effective utilization of the whole filter bed. Well-adsorbing OMPs (e.g. benzotriazole, carbamazepine) were removed by >80% up to throughputs of 8000-10,000 bed volumes (BV), whereas weakly to medium adsorbing OMPs (e.g. primidone, sulfamethoxazole) showed removals <80% at <5,000 BV. In addition, breakthrough behavior was also determined for gabapentin, an anticonvulsant drug recently detected in drinking water resources for which suitable removal technologies are still largely unknown. Gabapentin showed poor adsorptive removal, resulting in rapid concentration increases. Whereas previous studies classified gabapentin as not readily biodegradable, sustained removal was observed after prolonged operation and points at biol. elimination of gabapentin within the GAC filter. The application of GAC as filter medium was compared to direct addition of powd. activated carbon (PAC) to deep-bed filtration as a direct process alternative. Both options yielded comparable OMP removals for most compounds at similar carbon usage rates, but GAC achieved considerably higher removals for biodegradable OMPs. Based on the results, the application of GAC in combination with coagulation/filtration represents a promising alternative to powd. activated carbon and ozone for advanced wastewater treatment. Vidic, Jasmina published the artcileGold Surface Functionalization and Patterning for Specific Immobilization of Olfactory Receptors Carried by Nanosomes, Product Details of C11H12O3, the main research area is gold surface functionalization patterning immobilization olfactory receptor carried nanosome.

There is substantial interest in engineering solid supports to achieve functional immobilization of membrane receptors both for investigation of their biol. function and for the development of novel biosensors. Three simple and practical strategies for immobilization of a human olfactory receptor carried by nanosomes are presented. The basis of the functionalization of solid gold surfaces is a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) containing biotinyl groups. Biotinyl groups are subsequently used to attach neutravidin and then biotinylated monoclonal antibody directed against the receptor to allow its specific grafting. Surface plasmon resonance technique is implemented for real-time monitoring of step-by-step surface functionalization and, in addition, for testing the functional response of immobilized olfactory receptors. The authors show that OR1740 is functional when immobilized via a tag attached to its C-terminus, but not via its N-terminus. Finally, the authors demonstrate that gold surfaces can be patterned by the SAMs tested using microcontact printing. AFM images of immobilized nanosomes onto a patterned surface suggest that small nanosomes flatten and fuse into larger vesicles but do not merge into a continuous layer. The whole study emphasizes the outstanding performances of the BAT/PEGAT SAM, which could be useful for developing on-a-chip sensor formats for membrane receptor investigations and use.

Chiang, Chao-Lung published the artcileEnhancement of CO2 adsorption and separation for non-porous Zn/Co azolate frameworks via ethanol-induced structural transformation, Application In Synthesis of 104-01-8, the main research area is carbon dioxide zinc cobalt azolate adsorption separation.

Non-porous zinc/cobalt azolate frameworks with diamond-type crystal structure (MAF-31/ZIF-D-CoM) have been synthesized in large scale with an acid-catalyzed process. Afterward, an ethanol exposure process was applied for 1, 7, and 14 days to transform MAF-31/ZIF-D-CoM into porous T-MAF-4/T-ZIF-67. Two porous zinc/cobalt azolate frameworks standards (MAF-4/ZIF-67) with sodalite-type crystal structures were prepared with a solvent-free method for comparison with T-MAF-4/T-ZIF-67. Effects of ethanol vapor exposure on structual transformation of MAF-31/ZIF-D-CoM were characterized throughly. Obvious structural transfomations between non-porous and porous zinc/cobalt azolate frameworks were found with X-ray diffraction (XRD), Field-emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM), and X-ray absorption near-edge structure/extended X-ray absorption fine structure (XANES/EXAFS) spectra. After the 14-day ethanol vapor exposure, the CO2 adsorption uptakes of MAF-31 and ZIF-D-CoM in low/high pressures were enhanced from 5.18 × 10-5/0.68 and 1.20 × 10-4/0.18 to 1.76 × 10-3/8.27 and 1.99 × 10-3/11.2 mmol/g, resp. The CO2 selectivities of MAF-31/ZIF-D-CoM were also improved from 0.29/2.34 to 6.33/16.47. In addition, CO2 adsorption over zinc/cobalt azolate frameworks obeyed both Langmuir/Freundlich adsorption isotherm models with good agreements.

Chemical Engineering Journal (Amsterdam, Netherlands) published new progress about Adsorption. 1455-77-2 belongs to class isoquinoline, name is 3,5-Diamino-1,2,4-triazole, and the molecular formula is C2H5N5, Recommanded Product: 3,5-Diamino-1,2,4-triazole.

Peng, An-Zhong published the artcileN-doped porous carbons derived from a polymer precursor with a record-high N content: Efficient adsorbents for CO2 capture, Recommanded Product: 3,5-Diamino-1,2,4-triazole, the main research area is nitrogen doped porous carbon polymer precursor; adsorbent carbon dioxide capture.

N-doped porous carbons (NPCs) are characterized by well-developed porosity and N-doped active sites, which makes them suitable for CO2 capture. However, their application in practice is obstructed by the relatively low N-doped content and unsatisfactory adsorption capacity. Herein, we report the synthesis of NPCs through the rational design of the precursor NUT-21 (NUT means Nanjing Tech University) with a record-high N content (up to 46.16%, wt). The NUT-21 was fabricated by the polymerization of two simple monomers of 2,4,6-tris(bromomethyl)mesitylene and 3,5-diamino-1,2,4-triazole with an unusually high N content of 70.67% (wt). With the carbonization of NUT-21 at different temperatures (500, 600, and 700°, resp.), a series of NPCs possessing various porosity and N contents are produced, successfully. For the NPC generated at 600°, the N content can reach 7.41% (wt), the surface area is 2208 m2/g, the micropore volume is 0.791 cm3/g, and the CO2 capacity is up to 8.3 mmol/g at 273 K and 1 bar, which is much higher than those of benchmarks including 13X zeolite (4.1 mmol/g) and activated carbon (2.8 mmol/g), and most carbon-based adsorbents reported till now. It was proved in our previous studies that the ultrahigh N content of the precursor was beneficial for both the formation of developed porosity and the generation of abundant N-doped sites, which can give rise to superior capacity and selectivity of CO2 capture. The NPCs obtained may offer to be highly promising candidates for CO2 separation from gas mixtures including natural gas and flue gas.

The catalytic hydrogenation of different aldehydes to the corresponding alcs. was investigated using an FeII hydride pincer complex as catalyst in the supported ionic liquid phase (SILP) reaction mode. Two different ionic liquids of the type [X4441][NTf2] with X=N or P were applied with mesoporous silica gel as support, which was coated first with a chemisorbed monolayer of the corresponding modified IL to remove acidic surface OH-groups and to prevent IL leaching. Quant. conversion with turn-over frequencies in the order of 1000 h-1 were obtained for various aromatic and heteroaromatic aldehydes and highly selective aldehyde reduction was observed also for substrates containing reducible C=C bonds. Aldehydes with longer aliphatic chains or cycloalkyl substituents, however, showed no conversion here, in contrast to a previous study with an imidazolium-based ionic liquid These differences were ascribed primarily to differences in substrate/ionic liquid interactions. Whereas [N4441][NTf2] and [P4441][NTf2] gave essentially identical results for different substrates in single-batch reactions, prolonged use of the catalyst in repeated reaction cycles lead to a quick drop-off in catalyst activity in [P4441][NTf2], but a continuous, quant. conversion in [N4441][NTf2].

Anal. of polar organic chems. in the aquatic environment is exacerbated by the lack of suitable and widely applicable enrichment methods. In this work, we assessed the suitability of a novel combination of well-known solid-phase extraction (SPE) materials in one cartridge as well as an evaporation method and for the enrichment of 26 polar model substances (predominantly log D < 0) covering a broad range of physico-chem. properties in three different aqueous matrixes. The multi-layer solid-phase extraction (mlSPE) and evaporation method were investigated for the recovery and matrix effects of the model substances and analyzed with hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatog.-tandem mass spectrometry (HILIC-MS/MS). In total, 65% of the model substances were amenable (> 10% recovery) to the mlSPE method with a mean recovery of 76% while 73% of the model substances were enriched with the evaporation method achieving a mean recovery of 78%. Target and non-target screening comparison of both methods with a frequently used reversed-phase SPE method utilizing “”hydrophilic and lipophilic balanced”” (HLB) material was performed. Target anal. showed that the mlSPE and evaporation method have pronounced advantages over the HLB method since the HLB material retained only 30% of the model substances. Non-target screening of a ground water sample with the investigated enrichment methods showed that the median retention time of all detected features on a HILIC system decreased in the order mlSPE (3641 features, median tR 9.7 min), evaporation (1391, 9.3 min), HLB (4414, 7.2 min), indicating a higher potential of the described methods to enrich polar analytes from water compared with HLB-SPE. We analyzed the hydration behavior of alkyl-substituted urea osmolytes in terms of their deviation from Lewis-Randall solution ideality and characterized their structure-making/breaking tendency according to a proposed solvation formalism that provides a rigorous cause-effect connection between the system microstructure and its solution thermodn. nonidealities. After a brief introduction of the rationale behind the use of Lewis-Randall over alternative solution ideality references, we (i) assessed the effect of the nature and type of alkyl substitution on the osmolyte-induced perturbation of the solution microstructure as a function of composition, (ii) analyzed their microstructural responses to changes in temperature and pressure, and (iii) demonstrated the structure-breaking nature of urea and the magnifying behavior of its alkyl-substituted osmolytes, whose trend follows the increasingly pos. deviation of the osmolyte solutions from Lewis-Randall ideality. Then, we discussed the falsifiability of a pair of frequently used conjectured structure-making/breaking criteria, supported by the derived exact relationships between the structure-making/breaking parameter, the solution thermodn. nonideality, and the osmotic second virial coefficient of the aqueous osmolytes. Finally, we provided an outlook on how the proposed approach could guide the quest for a truly (microstructural to free energy) causative explanation for the denaturation mechanism of proteins.
