Shen, Zhizhang published the artcileSolvent Selection for the Separation of Lignin-Derived Monomers Using the Conductor-like Screening Model for Real Solvents, Formula: C8H10O2, the main research area is solvent selection separation lignin derived monomer COSMO model.

The separation of desired monomers from a liquid-phase mixture of lignin depolymerization products is necessary to facilitate their up-scaling and upgrading for industrial applications. One effective method to sep. multiple liquid-phase products is countercurrent chromatog. (CCC), which is a common liquid chromatog. technique that separates target solutes based on differences in their partitioning in a biphasic solvent system. Effective CCC separation requires the selection of solvent compositions to tune solute partition coefficients To alleviate the exptl. burden of selecting optimal solvent systems, we apply the conductor-like screening model for real solvents (COSMO-RS) method to compute partition coefficients of representative lignin monomers from four currently used depolymerization strategies in standard solvent systems. We further design new ternary and quaternary solvent systems that are predicted to further improve separation efficacy. On the basis of these predicted partition coefficients and empirical solvent selection criteria for CCC measurements, we suggest a range of solvent systems that would be suitable for the effective separation of aromatic lignin-derived products via CCC or similar liquid-liquid extraction methods.

Tran, Phuong Diem published the artcileAssessing cocoa aroma quality by multiple analytical approaches, Product Details of C13H16O, the main research area is cocoa bean aroma mass spectrometry HSSPME GCMS.

In this study the quality of 26 fermented cocoa beans from 4 different countries (Vietnam, Indonesia, Peru and Ghana) is assessed by means of both a compositional anal. (amino acids, reducing sugars, polyphenols and lactic acid) and profiling of their volatile aroma composition (Mass Spectrometry (MS)-fingerprinting and Headspace-solid Phase Micro-extraction-Gas Chromatog.-Mass Spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS)) following high roasting processing (30 min at 150 °C). Compared with the labour-intensive measurement of cocoa precursors, MS-fingerprinting on the cocoa headspaces appeared to be a very powerful and fast classification technique. Different cocoa groups were researched having unique organoleptic characteristics which were affected by fermentation, roasting conditions and geog. origin. A clear separation of fine flavor cocoa (Criollo variety), well fermented/roasted cocoa and low quality cocoa could be made. Addnl., the clustering was confirmed by more conventional HS-SPME-GC-MS aroma analyses on the cocoa samples. Several markers for the bean origin/quality were identified. Roasting degrees were also calculated based on typical pyrazine ratios.

Meng, Lingjun’s team published research in Journal of Hazardous Materials in 2017-09-05 | CAS: 117-96-4

Journal of Hazardous Materials published new progress about Chlorophyta. 117-96-4 belongs to class isoquinoline, name is Diatrizoic Acid, and the molecular formula is C11H9I3N2O4, Application In Synthesis of 117-96-4.

Meng, Lingjun published the artcileA novel method for photo-oxidative degradation of diatrizoate in water via electromagnetic induction electrodeless lamp, Application In Synthesis of 117-96-4, the main research area is photooxidation diatrizoate electromagnetic induction electrodeless lamp; Diatrizoate; Electromagnetic induction electrodeless lamp; Quantum chemical calculations; Radicals; UV-based advanced oxidation.

In this study, an electromagnetic induction electrodeless lamp (EIEL) was first introduced into UV advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) for photodegradation of Diatrizoate (DTZ), which was the most persistent iodinated X-ray contrast medium (ICM), and traditional Hg lamps were taken as references Direct photolysis rate of DTZ under EIEL irradiation was 1.34 times as that under Hg irradiation, but the elec. energy consumption was 0.87 times. In this sense, the combination of EIEL and oxidants (O2, H2O2 and S2O82-(PS)) was further investigated. The remarkably increased photodegradation rates were observed in UV/PS system due to primary contribution rate of SO4·- (62.5%) based on the results of radical concentrations and second-order rate constants of DTZ with SO4·- and ·OH. Inorganic ions influencing the photodegradation process were investigated. The effect of natural organic materials (NOMs) in UV/PS system was studied based on contribution ratios of light screening effect and quenching. Transformation mechanisms of DTZ in UV/PS system included deiodination, intramol. cyclization, decarboxylation, deacetylation and deamination, which were further confirmed by frontier electron d. calculations The study indicated that UV/PS with EIEL irradiation has the potential to remove pharmaceuticals in contaminated aquatic environments.

Vergeynst, Leendert published the artcileSuspect screening and target quantification of multi-class pharmaceuticals in surface water based on large-volume injection liquid chromatography and time-of-flight mass spectrometry, Recommanded Product: Diatrizoic Acid, the main research area is screening method pharmaceutical determination surface water; large volume injection liquid chromatog mass spectrometry.

The ever-growing number of emerging micro-pollutants, e.g., pharmaceuticals, require rapid, sensitive full-spectrum anal. techniques. Time-of-flight high resolution mass spectrometry (TOF-HRMS) is a promising alternative for state-of-the-art tandem mass spectrometry instruments due to its ability to simultaneously screen for a virtually unlimited number of suspect analytes and perform target quantification. The challenge for such suspect screening is to develop a strategy which minimizes the false-neg. rate without restraining numerous false-positives. At the same time, omitting laborious sample enrichment through large volume injection, ultra-performance liquid chromatog. (LVI-UPLC) avoids selective pre-concentration A suspect screening strategy was developed using LVI-UPLC/TOF-MS to detect 69 multi-class pharmaceuticals in surface water without the a-priori availability of anal. standards As a novel approach, the screening accounts for signal-intensity-dependent accurate mass error of TOF-MS, restraining 95% of measured suspect pharmaceuticals in surface water. It use on 5 Belgian river water samples showed the potential of the suspect screening approach, exemplified by a false-pos. rate <15% and given that 30 of 37 restrained suspect compounds were confirmed by anal. standard retention time. The paper discusses validation and applicability of the LVI-UPLC full-spectrum HRMS method to quantify the 69 pharmaceutical target compounds in surface water. Anal. of 5 Belgian river water samples showed the occurrence of 17 pharmaceuticals at concentrations of 17 ng/L to 3.1 μg/L. ACS Applied Energy Materials published new progress about Calcination. 598-50-5 belongs to class isoquinoline, name is 1-Methylurea, and the molecular formula is C2H6N2O, HPLC of Formula: 598-50-5.

Salkar, Akshay V. published the artcileNH- and CH-Substituted Ureas as Self-Assembly Directing Motifs for Facile Synthesis and Electrocapacitive Applications of Advanced WO3-x One-Dimensional Nanorods, HPLC of Formula: 598-50-5, the main research area is tungsten oxide nanorod capacitor urea self assembly oxygen vacancy.

Designing a solid state crystal architecture at nanoscale, using a soft chem. approach, is the key step toward their scalable synthesis for sustainable application in electrochem. charge storage devices. We investigate the application of NH- and CH-substituted ureas, namely, carbohydrazide, semicarbazide, N-methylurea, and tetramethylurea as design elements/motifs in the tailored synthesis of WO3-x nanostructures via direct calcination of tungstic acid-substituted urea hybrid gels. The SEM, HRTEM, SAED, XRD, XPS, and TG-DTA studies reveal that NH-substitution in urea induces a profound growth of WO3-x one-dimensional (1D) nanorods, preferentially growing along the (002) plane with enhancement in the percentage of oxygen vacancies. On the contrary, with the increase in CH-substitution in urea, the tendency to form 1D nanorods via self- assembly process decreases, possibly due to an increase in the steric effect of the Me groups. We further demonstrate the corresponding effect of morphol. and chem. changes in WO3-x nanostructure on their improved electrified interfacial processes via H+ intercalation using cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic charge-discharge, electrochem. impedance spectroscopy tests, and chronoamperometric studies. Our findings reveal that the enhancement in WO3-x nanorod growth, W5+/W6+ redox surface states, and abundance of (002) surface plane due to NH-substitution in urea play a crucial role in facilitating the diffusion process of H+/e- in and out of the WO3-x matrix. An area specific capacitance of 132 mF cm-2 at the c.d. of 1 mA cm-2 with excellent capacitance retention is reported. Moreover, significant improvements in the charge-discharge times were observed, the highest being the one for WO3-x nanorods obtained using carbohydrazide, demonstrating its potential for possible application in designing 1D nanomaterials for energy storage systems.

Finke, Maureen D published the artcileAscending tonic-clonic seizure syndrome in a dog following inadvertent intrathecal use of ionic contrast agent., SDS of cas: 117-96-4, the main research area is .

OBJECTIVE: To describe the successful management of ascending tonic-clonic seizure syndrome in a dog after inadvertent intrathecal administration of ionic contrast material. CASE SUMMARY: A 7-year-old, 5.9 kg, male castrated Miniature Pinscher inadvertently received intrathecal ionic contrast material during a myelogram to investigate cervical pain. Ascending tonic-clonic muscle spasms quickly progressed to generalized seizure activity that was resistant to anticonvulsant medications. The dog developed complete respiratory arrest, which necessitated mechanical ventilatory support for 26 hours. Pneumonia developed and was treated successfully. After resolution of seizure activity and resumption of voluntary respiration, the dog remained tetraparetic for 16 days and was not able to walk on his own for 20 days post contrast injection. Despite a prolonged recovery, the patient survived and recovered normal neurologic function. NEW OR UNIQUE INFORMATION PROVIDED: Intrathecal administration of ionic contrast material resulting in ascending tonic-clonic seizure syndrome is rarely reported in the human and veterinary literature. No previous veterinary report has described successful treatment after prolonged respiratory arrest. In previous veterinary reports, patients recovered complete neurologic function within hours to days in contrast to this report in which the patient was tetraparetic for 16 days. This report demonstrates complete recovery from intrathecal ionic contrast administration is possible despite a high dose of contrast and a prolonged recovery.

Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells are important for both research and clinical purpose. A number of culture methods for these cells are available on the market, many of them consisting of specialized growing media in combination with growth factors. Our goal was to optimize a less expensive culture method for bone marrow mesenchymal cells. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Eight samples of bone marrow aspirates from patients were used. Out these 8 samples 2 were from healthy people, 3 from chronic granulocytic leukemia patients, 2 from multiple myeloma patients and 2 from patients with myelodysplastic syndrome. Bone aspirates from healthy people were used to optimize the culture method and the rest were used for testing the optimized method. Two methods were tried: 1. Cell culture starting from whole bone marrow, 2) cell culture after bone marrow separation in density gradient with Histopaque. RESULTS: Cell culture starting from whole bone marrow gives better yields for mesenchymal stem cells than methods which include gradient density separation of mononuclear cells with Ficoll-Histopaque. CONCLUSIONS: We have optimised a less expensive cell culture method for bone marrow mesenchymal cells.

Inal, Salih published the artcileProtective effect of adrenomedullin on contrast induced nephropathy in rats., Application In Synthesis of 117-96-4, the main research area is .

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) has a growing incidence in which renal vasoconstriction and medullary hypoxia are important mechanisms. Therapeutic approaches are very restricted and there is a considerable interest in advancing preventive strategies. Adrenomedullin is a relatively novel peptide having antioxidant, vasoactive and vasodilatory properties. We aimed to investigate whether adrenomedullin might have a preventive role against the development of experimental CIN. METHODS: Wistar albino rats (n=24) were allocated randomly into four equal groups of 6 each; Control (C), Adrenomedullin (A), Contrast Media (CM) and Adrenomedullin plus Contrast Media (ACM). All rats were deprived of water from day 1 to day 4 during 72 hours. Then, intravenous administrations of chemicals were performed. Adrenomedullin was given at dose of 12µg/kg to groups A and ACM. A single dose of high-osmolar contrast media; diatrizoate (Urografin 76%, Schering AG, Germany) was injected to groups CM and ACM at dose of 10mL/kg. On day 1 and 6 blood samples were drawn for renal function tests and inflammatory markers including TNF-α IL-1β, IL-6 and IL-18. After sacrification, kidney histologies were examined with hematoxylin-eosin staining. RESULTS: Compared to CM group, serum cystatin-C levels on 6th day were found significantly lower in ACM group (p<0.05). Additionally, daily protein excretion rates, absolute changes in daily urine output and creatinine clearance values were significantly lower in ACM group than those in CM group (p<0.05). In histopathological evaluation, regarding the degree of tubular damage and medullary congestion scores, ACM group had slightly better scores compared to CM group; however the differences did not reach significance as shown in inflammatory markers. CONCLUSION: This study demonstrated a beneficial impact of adrenomedullin on deteriorated renal function tests in an experimental CIN model. Adrenomedullin might be a candidate agent for prophylaxis of CIN. However, further studies are needed to shed more light on this issue.

Baykara, Murat published the artcileIn vivo nephroprotective efficacy of propolis against contrast-induced nephropathy., Synthetic Route of 117-96-4, the main research area is .

PURPOSE: Contrast agents administered in diagnostic imaging or interventional procedures of clinical radiology may cause contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN). Preventive measures against CIN involve pharmaceutical pretreatments, such as N-acetylcystein (NAC) or calpain, but alternative medicines can also be helpful. This study aims to assess the prospects of a natural compound, propolis, as a potential nephroprotector against a specific contrast agent, diatrizoate. METHODS: In vivo experiments were performed on 35 male rats in five groups: control, diatrizoate alone, and pretreatments with propolis, NAC, or calpain one hour before diatrizoate administration. Three days later, blood and renal tissue samples were collected and quantitatively processed for determining induced changes in critical biomarkers malondialdehyde (MDA), glutathione (GSH), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and catalase (CAT), as well as serum creatinine and plasma urea. RESULTS: Diatrizoate increased creatinine (113%), urea (400%), and MDA (162%) levels and decreased GSH (-71%), SOD (-69%), GSH-Px (-77%), and CAT (-73%) levels. Evaluating the response of each pretreatment provided sufficient evidence that propolis was as effective as either NAC or calpain, but consistently more prominent in restoring the MDA, GSH, SOD, and GSH-Px levels close to their normal range. This outcome demonstrated the nephroprotective effect of propolis against CIN. CONCLUSION: Propolis protects renal tissue against toxicity, free radicals, and other adverse effects induced by diatrizoate. This function is most likely exerted through the antioxidant and antitoxic activities of propolis.
