Yb(OTf)3 catalyzed mild and regioselective ring-opening 1,3-aminothiolation of donor-acceptor (D-A) cyclopropanes using sulfenamides has been demonstrated. The insertion of the C-C σ-bond of D-A cyclopropanes into the S-N σ-bond of sulfenamides allows the synthesis of diverse γ-aminated α-thiolated malonic diesters in moderate to good yields (up to 87%) with good functional group compatibility. The stereospecificity of the reaction was demonstrated using enantiomerically pure D-A cyclopropane.

A novel transformation of N-alkyl protected arylamines and cyclic ethers into N-aryl substituted azacycles is described. Alkyl groups have been used for the protection of amines in organic syntheses. In this synthesis, N-alkyl protected arylamines were reacted with cyclic ethers in the presence of TiCl4 and DBU, crucial reagents affording five- and six-membered azacycles. In particular, utilization of the novel TiCl4/DBU-mediated reaction allows various N-alkyl protected arylamines such as N-methyl-, N-ethyl-, N-iso-Pr, and N-tert-Bu arylamines to be readily converted into N-aryl substituted azacycles in high yields. This practical approach using various N-alkyl arylamines leads to the efficient preparation of azacycles.

The combination of widely available aryl- and vinylboronic acids with com. available thioimidate using catalytic PdII and a CuII additive enables the preparation of KATs in high yields and with good functional group tolerance. This formal insertion of CO into organoboronic acids can also be applied to boronic acid pinacol esters and potassium organotrifluoroborates using a slightly modified procedure. The cross-coupling can be telescoped into the one-pot synthesis of amides and α-aminotrifluoroborates by exploiting the unique chem. of KATs and their trifluoroborate iminium (TIM) derivatives

An efficient and reusable catalyst, 3-(propylthio)propane-1-sulfonic acid immobillized on functionalized magnetic nanoparticles [PTPSA@SiO2-Fe3O4], has been synthesized. This catalyst has been successfully used in multicomponent synthesis of dihydrotetrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines, dihydrotetrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine-6-carboxylates and tetrahydrotetrazolo[5,1-b]quinazolinones under solvent-free conditions. The structure of the catalyst was confirmed by characterization techniques, such as FT-IR, TGA, SEM-EDX, elemental mapping, TEM, VSM and elemental anal. Moreover, this unique catalyst was found to be effective in up to six cycles. Recyclability of the catalyst, excellent yields of the products, short reaction time and clean reaction profile are the advantages of the present protocol.
