Ni(II) metal species in the structure possess coordinately unsaturated centers, which exhibited viable catalytic properties in the synthesis of eight different indeno-pyrimidine derivatives through 1-pot reaction involving benzaldehydes, indane-1,3-dione and guanidinium chloride in a green approach. With the reaction achieved in 15 min time interval in EtOH in excellent yields (87-98%), plus the good recyclability (up to 6 times) provides advantage to this complex in heterogeneous catalysis.

While, P-XRD, TEM and SEM anal. performances were revealed for the structural interpretation of Cs2O/ZrO2, the identity of products were established and confirmed by various spectral (1H NMR, 13C NMR, FT-IR and HRMS) techniques.
