Abstract: A series of (E)-1,2-diarylethylidenehydrazine carboximidamides 2a-j were synthesized and characterized by NOESY experiment as anticonvulsant agents and their antiseizure activity was evaluated by intracerebroventricular administration of compounds Most of the compounds had significant protection against tonic-clonic seizures and 2a was found to be as equipotent as carbamazepine in seizures control. In order to find their anticonvulsant mechanism of action, 2a was subjected to further electrophysiol. studies using patch-clamp technique. The results confirmed that this compound is neither a voltage-gated sodium channel blocker nor a NMDA/AMPA antagonist. Although 2a did not show any direct GABA agonistic activity, it could decrease EPSP and increase IPSP frequency without any change in amplitude. Finally, the results indicated most likely a presynaptic GABA-mediated mechanism of 2a for its antiseizure activity such as inhibition of the GABA-T which was validated by mol. docking.

BCN was used not only for half reactions, like reduction reactions with a sacrificial agent, but also redox reactions through oxidative and reductive interfacial electron transfer. The BCN photocatalyst showed tolerance to different substituents and conserved activity after five recycles. The apparent metal-free system opened new opportunities for a wide range of organic catalysts using light energy and sustainable materials, which were metal-free, inexpensive and stable.

A com. available small P-chiral phosphine catalyst, HypPhos, induces the asymmetry and is recycled through in situ reduction of its oxide, mediated by phenylsilane in the presence of a carboxylic acid. The efficiency, selectivity, scalability, mild reaction conditions, and broad substrate scope portend that this process will expedite the syntheses of chiral heterocyclic amines of significance to chem., biol., and medicine.

Comprehensive 2D gas chromatog.-time-of-flight mass spectrometry was combined with descriptive sensory anal. to elucidate the specificity of strong-aroma type Baijiu (Chinese liquor) from different regions, based on regionally distinct flavor characterized by chem. and sensory profiles. Numerous potential aroma compounds (262) were identified, among which 58 aroma compounds were significantly different between the samples from Sichuan and Jianghuai regions. Relationships between these potential aroma compounds and sensory attributes were investigated by partial least squares regression and network anal. The compounds that dominantly contributed to the important sensory attributes were identified. The high pyrazines, furanoids, and carbonyls amounts contributed to the high intensities of the cellar, toasted, and grain aroma profiles of the Sichuan region samples, while the high ester and alc. levels contributed to the fruity and floral aroma profiles of the Jianghuai region samples. This approach may have practical application in flavor characterization of other alc. beverages.

Drug was subjected to forced degradation and the samples were analyzed by the developed method to establish the stability indicating power of the method. The LOD values were 0.01, 0.009, 0.012, 0.011μ g mL-1 and the LOQ values were 0.04, 0.027, 0.035, 0.034μg mL-1 resp. for DTA and its 3 related substances. The average recovery values for DTA and impurities were found to be in the range of 97.4-101.9%. The developed method was linear over a range of 0.03- 0.3μg mL-1 for DTA impurities.
