The multicomponent Petasis borono-Mannich reaction proceeds via an imine with the boronic acid acting as the nucleophile for the preparation of amines and their derivatives, including amino acids. In view of the expansion of the poorly-exploited carbohydrate chem. using this reaction, a new α-hydroxy aldehyde moiety from the terminal diol of D-glucose diacetonide was synthesized and applied to this multicomponent reaction, demonstrating the scope of this method and the applicability to the convenient preparation of a protected polyfunctional δ-amino acid in only three synthetic steps from the Petasis reaction intermediate.

Saadati, Fariba published the artcileGuanidinate Early-Transition-Metal Complexes: Efficient and Selective Hydroaminoalkylation of Alkenes, SDS of cas: 5961-59-1, the main research area is tantalum methylamido silylmethyl complex catalyst hydroaminoalkylation alkene; crystal structure methylamido silylmethyl triazabicyclodecene tantalum complex; mol structure methylamido silylmethyl triazabicyclodecene tantalum complex.

The influence of N,N-chelating guanidinate ligands on the reactivity of in situ generated Ta complexes for the intermol. hydroaminoalkylation of amines were explored. Increased conversion was observed with the Na salt of 1,5,7-triazabicyclo[4.4.0]dec-5-ene (TBDNa) paired with the Ta precursor Ta(CH2SiMe3)3Cl2 at 110°. Terminal alkenes underwent hydroaminoalkylation with a variety of secondary amine substrates to give substituted secondary amine products. Mono- and bis(guanidinate) Ta complexes were prepared, and their structures were studied. Importantly, the guanidinate ligand could be alkylated in the β position using Ta(NMe2)5 as a precatalyst to give the linear regioisomer as the major product, and this substituted ligand gave improved hydroaminoalkylation conversion in comparison to the parent ligand.

The scientific interest in catalytic hydroaminoalkylation reactions of alkenes has vastly increased over the past decade, but these reactions have struggled to become a viable option for general laboratory or industrial use because of reaction times of several days. The titanium-based catalytic system introduced in this work not only reduces the reaction time by several orders of magnitude, into the range of minutes, but the catalyst also is easily available from common starting materials, at a cost of euro per mmol of catalyst. The authors were also able to formally perform C-H activation of methylamine and achieve coupling to a broad variety of alkenes, through silyl protection of the amine and simple deprotection by water.
