Chem., 1983, vol. 48, p. 3220; 5.0 g, 30.8 mmol) and bis(2-chloroethyl)amine hydrochloride (6.3 g, 33.9 mmol) in n-butanol (250 mL) was stirred at 110 C. for 3 days. The precipitate was removed by filtration to provide the starting amine as the HCl salt (3.6 g). Evaporation of the n-butanol under reduced pressure afforded a dark oil which was purified by column chromatography (silica gel; EtOH/H2 O/NH4 OH 10:0.5:0.5) to give 1-2. 1 H NMR (CD3 OD); delta2.86 (2H, t), 3.10 (4H, m), 3.22 (4H, m), 3.44 (2H, t), 7.18 (2H, m), 7.55 (1H, m).
