Charge-transfer complexes of some heteroaromatic N-oxides with tetracyanoethylene, 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyanobenzoquinone, tetrachlorohexa-2,5-diene-1,4-dione and 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquino-dimethane in methylene chloride were investigated spectrophotometrically.The spectral data, molar extinction coefficients and transition energies of the complexes formed as well as the ionization potentials of the donors are reported.BENESI-HILDEBRAND and JOB methods were applied to the determination of formation and apparent formation constants, respectively.The effect of temperature and solvent on the stability of the complexes are discussed.
