14N nuclear screening data are reported for a number of variously substituted azine N-oxides.Examples are presented which contain as the parent polyazine structure, pyridine, quinoline and isoquinoline.The nitrogen N-oxide screening trends are discussed in terms of normal charge density variations produced by the substituents considered.The influence of potential hydrogen-bonding substituents in the 2-position on the N-oxide screening is noted.Screning data for some polyazines show that the presence of a nitrogen atom in the ring not containing the N-oxide function is only significant when the two nitrogens are in the peri positions.When all of the nitrogen nuclei are present in the same polyazine ring the effects of substituents on the N-oxide screening are analogous to those observed for the corresponding quinoline and isoquinoline N-oxides
