Step-3: (0534) Preparation of ethyl 2-(8-bromo-1-oxoisoquinolin-2(1H)-yl)acetate: (0535) [00227] A mixture of 8-bromoisoquinolin-1(2H)-one (2.5 g, 11.15 mmol), ethyl 2- bromoacetate (2.5 mL, 22.31 mmol) and potassium carbonate (4.62 g, 33.47 mmol) in acetone (100 mL) was heated at 60 ¡ãC for 2 h. The reaction mixture was filtered and the filtrate was concentrated. The crude product was purified by column chromatography using 30percent ethyl acetate in hexane to afford the title compound ethyl 2-(8-bromo-1-oxoisoquinolin-2(1H)- yl)acetate (2.1 g, 61percent yield) as a brownish solid.
