Rearrangement of 5-phenyl-2,3-furandione 3-(phenylhydrazones) and 5-phenyl-2,3-furandione 3-[(4-chlorophenyl)hydrazones] gave 5-phenyl-1H-pyrrole-2,3-dione 3-(phenylhydrazones) and 5-phenyl-1H-pyrrole-2,3-dione 3-[(4-chlorophenyl)hydrazones].
