Synthesis, characterization and catalytic activity of Ag-Ag2S nanoparticles supported on environmentally benign cellulose matrix has been discussed. The advantages of the catalyst developed in this work over other previous reports include room temperature or comparatively low temperature reaction, shorter reaction times, no requirement of stoichiometric oxidant or ligands, use of green solvents, functional group tolerance, and recyclability.
