Herein, the N-H functionalization reaction of primary and secondary anilines RNHR1 (R = H, Me, Et, Ph; R1 = Ph, 3-bromophenyl, 2H-1,3-benzodioxol-5-yl, etc.) with diaryldiazoalkanes R2C(=N2)R3 (R2 = Ph, 2-chlorophenyl, 3-nitrophenyl, etc.; R3 = Ph, 4-methoxyphenyl, 3-methylphenyl, etc.) using simple AgPF6 as catalyst was reported. Broad applicability in the reaction of diaryldiazoalkanes with different anilines (31 examples, up to 97% yield) was demonstrated. Furthermore, a possible reaction mechanism for the N-H functionalization was proposed.
