A swift, environmental-friendly and efficient protocol for the synthesis of isoxazole-5(4H)-one derivatives through multicomponent reaction of substituted aldehydes, ethylacetoacetate and hydroxylamine is designed by MWI under catalyst-free condition. The noticeable features of this protocol are: simple handling, environmental-benign, catalyst-free, avoid of harmful catalysts, short reaction time (≤ 10), energy conserving, no toxic byproducts and excellent yields (93-98%).
