Ud Din, Zia published the artcileOptimized one-pot synthesis of monoarylidene and unsymmetrical diarylidene cycloalkanones, Computed Properties of 86-51-1, the main research area is monoarylidene diarylidene cycloalkanone preparation green chem; ketone condensation aryl aldehyde dimethylammonium dimethylcarbamate catalyst.

Ionic liquid dimethylammonium dimethylcarbamate (DIMCARB) catalyzed reaction for the synthesis of monoarylidene cycloalkanones I (X = nothing, CH2, O; R1 = Ph, 2-MeC6H4, 4-MeOC6H4, 1,3-benzodioxol-5-yl, etc.) and unsym. diarylidene cyclohexanones II (R2 = Ph, 4-ClC6H4, 4-BrC6H4, 4-O2NC6H4, 4-FC6H4, 4-Me2NC6H4) has been developed. Both cyclic and acyclic ketones were reacted with a variety of electron-donating and withdrawing-substituted aldehydes in the presence of a catalytic amount of DIMCARB in a green solvent (aqueous ethanol) providing the corresponding monoarylidene ketones, e.g. I, in low to excellent yields. Subsequent condensation of 2-(4-methoxybenzylidene)cyclohexanone with various aromatic aldehydes under basic conditions allowed for the preparation of unsym. diarylidene cyclohexanones II. This synthetic methodol. provides mild, efficient, and environmentally friendly access to unsym. curcuminoid analogs, avoiding the use of excess catalysts, chlorinated organic solvent, and high temperature reaction. It is green and environmentally sound alternative to the existing protocols for the synthesis of pharmaceutically important unsym. natural product analogs.
