Bronsted acidic ionic liquids (BAILs) were prepared and used as catalyst and solvent in organic synthesis, due to their negligible volatility, remarkable solubility, good catalytic activity, and easily structurally tunable properties. In the present study, catalytic efficiency of economically viable ionic liquids bearing different cations pyridinium ([PyH]+ and triethylammonium [TEAH]+) for the esterification of aromatic acid with various aliphatic alcs. and crossed aldol condensation (Claisen Schmidt reaction) of aromatic aldehydes with cyclohexanone under ambient condition was investigated. Herein, also examined the effect of various process parameters on the yield of aromatic esters I [R = H, 4-Me, 2-OH, etc.] and α,α’-bis(arylidene)cycloalkanones II [R1 = 4-F, 3-NO2, 3-OC6H5, etc.].
