The hydroformylation reaction on safrole and isosafrole has been reinvestigated. An aqueous biphasic process, with a recyclable nanostructured Rh catalyst associated with a human serum albumin, was realized in isosafrole to afford a pleasant new aldehydic odorant mixture containing about 75% of valuable 3-benzo[1,3]dioxol-5-yl-2-methyl-propionaldehyde.
